After the Gaokao (Gaokao) exam, I decided to take my kids on a trip. Note that nucleic acid testing is now mandatory for travel everywhere. For example, on our trip to Dali, Sichuan Airlines required a nucleic acid test report within 48 hours. Therefore, it's essential to get a nucleic acid test before departure. Remember to get another one promptly after landing, too. This is mainly to avoid some tourist attractions and shopping malls requiring a nucleic acid test report within the past seven days.
Before departure, we booked a car through a certain service provider and picked it up at the airport. It was right in the airport parking lot, making pickup very convenient. Their service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly patient during pick-up. I loved it.
After picking up the car, our five-day trip to Dali began. The scenery we saw along the way from the airport to the inn was very beautiful. The red flowers, green trees, blue sky and white clouds formed the most beautiful natural landscape. Before this, I had full imagination about Dali, but my imagination was not as good as the real beauty here. Just like that, the Erhai Lake I had longed for finally appeared before my eyes. My son said he was very grateful to be able to embark on such a trip after the college entrance examination. Come to think of it, finally freed from three years of high school in Alexandria, it was time to embark on a new journey.
Afterwards, we arrived at the inn. This inn is truly wonderful, run by two brothers. The decor is beautiful, simple, and elegant. Since we had just arrived in Dali, we wanted to check out the inn and rest for a while. So, instead of going out, we ordered takeout. There were two puppies in the inn. The puppy is very cute.
The puppy is very cute.
After our lunch break, we went to the Tianlongbabu Film and Television City, which is also very famous. After all, "Tianlongbabu" was actually filmed here. Due to the epidemic, there were not many people in the film and television city. I walked for a long time and met probably less than ten people inside. For me, this is also a rather regrettable thing. If there were a bustling crowd here, it would be like the scene in a costume TV drama where everyone goes to the fair together.
After strolling slowly in the ancient city, we went to a cafe. The name is Persimmon Tree Cafe, which sounds very special. The city really gets crowded in the evening. The lights of Dali light up in the evening, giving the ancient city a romantic feel.
Then, we went to eat at Duan Gongzi Restaurant. It's said to have traces of Duan Yu and Qiao Feng. While I'm not interested in checking in with celebrities or novel characters, being able to experience some of the chivalrous spirit here is something I really value. The restaurant's famous dish, the large sword, is delicious.
They also have Fenghuaxueyue beer. I tried it, and it was pretty good, just the beer I like. There were three of us and we ordered about five or six dishes. They were all delicious and not a single one was a disappointment. It's truly rare to encounter such delightful dishes while traveling.
After dining at Dali Duan Gongzi, we wandered around the ancient city and then retired to our room.
It was raining in Dali early this morning. For us, the rainy season is a blessing. So, we went to a small restaurant with an umbrella for breakfast. It was tucked away in a small alley. My favorite was their rice noodle soup. It was piping hot and delicious.
Dali City is beautiful in the morning, with its vibrant atmosphere.
After dinner, we went to Tingchen Hotel. The view from this hotel is simply beautiful. Of course, the hotel itself is also stunning. Afterwards, we visited the art space, which is owned by Yang Liping. We also visited the imperial palace. You don't need a ticket to view it from the outside. To enter, you need to have afternoon tea for 128 yuan per person. Personally, I think this place is perfect for a visit. Only here can you truly appreciate the meaning of sophistication. We often talk about facing the sea and seeing spring blossoms, but in reality, only here can you truly appreciate its artistic conception. I was really, completely mesmerized by the scenery here. After leaving here, we returned to S Bay. The so-called S-Bay means that there are many winding roads in Shuanglang. We parked the car, found a bicycle, and rode around for a long time. Feeling the sea breeze and smelling the fragrance of flowers around us, I suddenly felt that no matter how beautiful a date in the world is, it might not be as good as a date with spring.
Note that this road is more than 20 kilometers long. You can drive there or ride a bicycle to explore.
After leaving here, our next stop was Xizhou. As the name suggests, this place must be full of joy and happiness.
The small attractions nearby are also very good. We saw the Corner Building. The Corner Building is a very famous local celebrity check-in spot. Having been to Lhasa before, I felt this place had a similar style to Barkhor Street there.
When you arrive in Xizhou Ancient Town, you absolutely must try the Xizhou baba. They come in a variety of flavors, and my favorite is the rose honey-filled baba, which is incredibly delicious and sweet. However, I wouldn't recommend buying too much. The three of us only bought two, both in different flavors, because you can get sick of this kind of thing if you eat too much.
Afterwards, we went to the Xizhou fields. This is also a very famous check-in spot for internet celebrities, and there are plenty of props nearby for taking photos. The highlight is Dali’s Ideal Bang. This place is a very famous resort hotel, and one of its highlights is that the hotel is built on a cliff. The white caves here are also famous. The sea blue accents give them a truly sacred feel. My son said it felt like Santorini. It suddenly occurred to me that we haven't even traveled in three years. I hope the pandemic passes quickly so we can visit more places. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant environment here is very good. We chose a location by the sea with a great view. Eating delicious food while looking at the scenery and feeling the sea breeze, such a quiet time is really intoxicating.
