This trip to Kunming was planned a long time ago. When I was browsing a certain book, I saw someone say that there is a park in Kunming that is very suitable for children to play. My son has been wanting to go out and play for a long time. So, we decisively set off again and started a trip to Kunming.
The six-day tour of Kunming and Dali has a very flexible route. I personally think that traveling is about relaxation and there is no need to be too tired.
The car was booked on a certain platform. The car was picked up at Changshui Airport and returned at Sanyi Airport. The reason for choosing it is that they do not charge a return fee for other places, which is more friendly for cross-city travel and you don’t have to go back. P.S. If you travel with children, you must go on a self-driving tour!
Crowds gathered at the Southwest's longest romantic flower slide. Turn on the acceleration amidst the flowers; this is a windy slide! You can even smell the fragrance of flowers while accelerating.
Then we checked out the Cute Pet Garden. Without a doubt, this was my favorite. There were adorable bunnies of all kinds, hopping around and digging holes. My son actually spent over an hour there. Besides bunnies, there were also alpacas. Watching the alpacas graze was truly soothing. Some ate, others rolled around on the ground.
The cute baby animals are for viewing only. Parents are advised not to teach children about the animals, as this may cause stress reactions. Furthermore, the animals here cannot be fed freely. There are dedicated keepers and caregivers! Because the park is quite large, we recommend taking a shared electric cart to explore Fenglong Bay. These carts can be rented conveniently by scanning a QR code in the central square after entering the scenic area.
It’s also very easy to get here, just navigate directly to Fenglongwan Fairytale Town. We also do plant dyeing here, where we crush plants to extract natural pigment juice to color fabrics. I made a scarf, and owning one that evokes the scent of nature feels so rewarding. Even my son was thrilled and said he'd come back more often. We stayed in the cabin that night, and you could order food in your room: rice noodles, fried rice, rice bowls, drinks... We indulged ourselves with a generous helping of food and watched the sunset from our rocking chairs. I highly recommend bringing your kids here if you have the time.
When we woke up the next day, we played in Fairy Tale Town for a while and then left, and then went to Dianchi Lake.
Since the reopening, more people have been visiting Dianchi Lake, or rather, more people have been visiting Kunming. If you visit Dianchi Lake in March or April, you can see red-billed gulls, but now they've all flown away. Dianchi Lake is vast, and the water is crystal clear. From a distance, it appears black, adding a sense of mystery. Then look at the white clouds here. How magnificent! The white clouds in the sky are so ethereal. They look like balls of cotton candy. After leaving Dianchi Lake, we went to eat hot pot again and chose mushroom hot pot. It was so delicious! Porcini mushroom fried rice is also delicious! In Yunnan, hot pot is no longer just about beef or mutton. The most impressive thing here is the variety of mushrooms. Many of these mushrooms are new to us. Interestingly, the waiter will take a photo of the mushrooms before you eat them. My husband said this is probably evidence-based medicine. If something goes wrong with the food, the doctor can use the photo to determine which mushrooms were eaten and how the poisoning occurred.
In addition to hot pot, you can also try the rice noodles here. I think the rice noodles in Yunnan are different from those I've had elsewhere. The rice noodles here are more fragrant and chewier. I'd like to share a rice noodle dish I had one morning.
Let me share a rice noodle dish I had one morning. It was at a roadside stall where I had the best Kunming hot pot rice noodles I've ever had! I've never had rice noodles this good at any other internet-famous place! So, when traveling, don't just look for big restaurants; explore smaller eateries.
Guolin Reservoir isn't exactly a popular tourist destination. Once you get there, you'll notice that most of the license plates are from Kunming, indicating that most of the tourists here are locals. The reservoir is actually quite beautiful and relatively uncrowded. This reservoir is a place I like very much. The reservoir is very large and the water is very clean. There's a long trail by the lake, where you'll occasionally see people jogging. Look at the lush green trees and the beautiful water. It's actually quite worthwhile to explore lesser-known places like this in Kunming.
Then we saw the reservoir dam. You could hear a rumbling sound from the dam. It was a thrilling rumble. I've never really liked the sound of fast-flowing water. Maybe it's aquaphobia, haha.
My son loves the scenery by the reservoir, so I decided to take him for a stroll. After coming down from the dam, we arrived at a park nearby. The park is very beautiful and there are many people playing there. This place feels very child-friendly. There's no traffic, just the chirping of insects and birdsong—the true sounds of nature.
Continue walking and you'll find that this area is actually a residential area. This makes me even more envious of the people who live here. From a distance, I can see that most of the buildings here are small villas. I still need to work hard to make money. I hope to live in a small villa one day.
There's a particularly large sculpture in the park with an introduction to the sculpture. After passing here, you can continue walking along the river.
The scenery was particularly beautiful. In fact, it's not just the majestic rivers that are beautiful; even small rivers like this one nestled among trees are incredibly beautiful. Moreover, here you can even more deeply experience the beauty of nature.
If you have time, I recommend visiting this reservoir. After leaving here, we drove to Dali.
