Day 1. Arrive at Lijiang Station by high-speed rail and take the bus to your accommodation.
However, the Lijiang bus service is a bit slow. If you're in a hurry, I recommend taking a taxi directly to your B&B. After having afternoon tea, we strolled to the ancient town's waterwheel. It was raining, so we wandered around for a while before going to dinner.
Day 2. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain + Blue Moon Valley
Preparation in Advance:
Grab the cable car tickets at 8:00 PM the night before. You'll have a good chance of getting one by looking at other people's ticket-grabbing strategies!
It's best to verify your information at least two days in advance. Each person only has three attempts to verify their identity each day. We failed twice that day, so we only had one mobile phone to grab one. Luckily, we managed to get one!
Oxygen cylinders are cheaper when delivered to the hotel. If you're experiencing severe altitude sickness, two bottles are enough; for normal users, one is enough.
Raincoats: Supermarkets sell them for 10 yuan each, much more convenient than an umbrella! It's been raining a lot lately, so I bought some Snickers bars to keep me going.
Clothing: I wore a long-sleeved shirt, a sun-protective jacket, a jacket, and a raincoat. I put on everything I could. I didn't feel cold the whole time, even though it was raining. The oxygen tanks were a little cold up there, though. Winter clothing is available for rent at the entrance to the scenic area.
The entrance time is the same as the bus boarding time, so be sure to arrive early! Don't underestimate altitude sickness. Walk slowly and rest frequently during the climb, and do it according to your ability!
After coming down from the snow mountain, we took the scenic bus to the Blue Moon Valley and then returned. We called Didi for both the round trip and the return trip, and the order was accepted very quickly (even if it was a special offer, no one would accept it)
Day 3. Shuhe Ancient Town, Lijiang Old Town, and Mu Mansion
I loved Shuhe Ancient Town. Entering from the north gate and exiting from the south gate, the scenery was like walking through a tropical rainforest. Commercialization only started to take place in the latter half of the trip. The local specialties in Shuhe Ancient Town are much cheaper than at other tourist attractions.
While visiting Shuhe Ancient Town in Lijiang, I came across this highly-ranked restaurant and had to check it out. I ordered a meal for four; the portions were generous and the food was quite good.
I recommend the yak beef hot pot; the beef was quite large and stir-fried with fermented black beans. It was delicious.
Ordered Dai-style lemon chicken feet, the portion was very generous, with super many chicken feet, and I was satisfied.
Ordered Naxi fried rice, the rice in this fried rice was delicious!
Many other dishes were very good, so I won’t comment on them one by one. If you come to Shuhe Ancient Town, you should come here to eat!
Mufu Palace is highly recommended! Although it costs 40 yuan for the ticket, there is a free tour guide.
The tour guide we met was from the Naxi ethnic group and his explanation was very professional and vivid.
