Never been to St. Augustine -
We like to be in walking distance of restaurants and attractions.
If your main goal in St. Augustine is to be within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and historic attractions, staying in either the downtown historic district or Lincolnville can work, but they offer slightly different vibes and conveniences.
Downtown Historic District:
This is the heart of St. Augustine and where most visitors prefer to stay if they want to be in the center of everything. You’ll be steps away from iconic attractions such as Castillo de San Marcos, the Lightner Museum, and St. George Street with its shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Lincolnville:
Lincolnville is a historic neighborhood just north of downtown, known for its cultural heritage and quieter streets. It’s about a 10–15 minute walk to St. George Street and downtown attractions, so it’s slightly removed from the main tourist hustle but still very accessible.
Recommendation:
If being in the immediate walking radius of multiple restaurants and attractions is your top priority, the downtown historic district is the ideal choice. If you prefer a slightly quieter neighborhood with a local feel but don’t mind a short walk to attractions, Lincolnville is a very good option.
