Early December Visit
Have been to Disney Resorts many times, but never the first week of December. Any input on how the crowds are? Just 2 adults traveling. Would love to go to Magic Kingdom, but will probably pass due to not wanting to mess around with Genie. Maybe Epcot? We're seniors, Floridians. Thanks!
Visiting Walt Disney World in early December can be a very pleasant experience, especially compared to the busier holiday weeks closer to Christmas. For two adults, especially Floridians familiar with the parks, this timing often provides a nice balance of manageable crowds and festive decorations.
Crowd Levels:
- Early December generally sees moderate crowds. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.
- The period before school winter breaks tends to be less busy, making it easier to navigate the parks without long waits.
- Major attractions may have moderate wait times, but it is usually far better than Thanksgiving week or the last two weeks of December.
Park Selection:
- Magic Kingdom can be busy even in early December, and with the Genie+ system and holiday shows, it may feel overwhelming for seniors wanting a relaxed visit.
- Epcot is an excellent alternative, especially if you enjoy international culture, holiday decorations, and seasonal food festivals. Lines are generally shorter, and the park is more walkable for adults looking to take it easy.
- Other options include Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom if you prefer fewer crowds and are interested in specific attractions.
Tips for Enjoying the Visit:
- Arrive early in the morning when the parks open to enjoy popular rides with shorter waits.
- Consider using the Genie+ system selectively if there are a few high-priority rides you want to experience, even without full park-hopping plans.
- Take advantage of holiday decorations, themed food, and seasonal events at Epcot, which are particularly enjoyable in early December.
- Weekdays will be your best bet for a more relaxed experience.
In summary, early December is a comfortable time to visit Disney World for seniors, especially if you focus on Epcot and avoid Magic Kingdom if you want to skip the more complicated planning. Moderate crowds and festive ambiance make it a pleasant, low-stress experience.
