9am or 11am for Pink Jeep Tour?

We are coming out to Arizona in April and I'm about to book one of the Pink Jeep tours. We had been hoping to do the 10am but it's sold out. We are leaning toward 11, we have 3 kids so more time to get up and out of the hotel is ideal. But is there a major difference in experience that the 9am would be better?

For Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona, the difference between a 9am and an 11am tour is usually minor, but there are a few factors to consider—especially when traveling with kids and during April.

Considerations:

  • Temperature & Comfort: In April, temperatures are generally mild in Sedona. The 9am tour may be slightly cooler, which can be more comfortable for kids if you prefer cooler weather for hiking or exploring. By 11am, it will be warmer, but not excessively hot yet.
  • Crowds & Traffic: Earlier tours sometimes encounter fewer people on the trails or at photo stops. However, Pink Jeep Tours are structured to avoid congestion, so an 11am tour will still provide a quality experience without noticeable crowd issues.
  • Lighting & Photography: Morning light (especially around 9am) can create softer shadows and more vibrant colors on the red rocks—good for photography. By 11am, the sun is higher, so shadows are shorter and the light can be harsher for photos, but still fine for casual pictures.
  • Logistics & Family-Friendly: With three kids, an 11am start allows a more relaxed morning routine—breakfast at the hotel, getting everyone ready, and driving to the tour meeting point without rushing. This can make the experience more enjoyable for families.

Recommendation:

For families traveling with kids, the 11am tour is generally ideal. You won’t miss significant sightseeing or experience quality. The 9am tour only provides slightly cooler temperatures and softer morning light, which are minor advantages compared to the convenience of a later start.

In summary, an 11am Pink Jeep Tour in April will still deliver the iconic Sedona red rock experience with plenty of photo opportunities and a relaxed schedule for your family.
