Hello
I’m flying into Phoenix next week and will overnight in Scottsdale before driving on to the south rim of Grand Canyon. I realize it’s about a 4 hour drive and wondered what part of Scottsdale would be best to stay in for a quick exit on to the GC?
Thanks in advance
Scottsdale is a large area east of Phoenix, and your goal is to position yourself for the fastest possible drive north to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The most direct route generally involves taking AZ-101 (Pima Freeway) north to I-17, then heading north to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon.

Hotel Suggestions
In summary, aim for the northern Scottsdale area along or near Loop 101 for the fastest and least stressful exit toward the Grand Canyon. This will save you from weaving through city traffic in the morning and get you on I-17 north quickly. If you are okay with a slightly longer drive through Scottsdale streets, central Scottsdale or near the airport also works and offers more hotel options.
