Bars 19+

Hi everyone. Will be visiting Scottsdale in May… Taking my 20 year-old son and his girlfriend. We have lots of stuff planned but was wondering if there are any bars or nightclubs that allow adults under 21? Plan on just dropping in for a bit… But they haven’t had that experience in Illinois. Thank you.

In Arizona, the legal drinking age is 21, so traditional bars and nightclubs generally do not allow patrons under 21. This means your 20-year-old son and his girlfriend will not be able to enter establishments that serve alcohol, even if they do not plan to drink. Scottsdale is known for its vibrant nightlife, but most venues strictly enforce this law.

However, there are some alternatives where 18+ or 19+ guests can enjoy the atmosphere, live music, or dancing without alcohol:

  • Live music venues: Some places host shows or concerts that allow patrons under 21. For example, certain venues in Old Town Scottsdale may have all-ages shows or daytime performances.
  • Restaurants with entertainment: Many restaurants and breweries offer entertainment and allow younger adults to enter, as long as they are seated and not at the bar.
  • Resort lounges or pool parties: Some resorts host daytime pool events that are open to 18+ guests, providing a social atmosphere without alcohol consumption for minors.
  • Comedy clubs or theaters: Certain comedy venues may have early shows that are open to 18+ or 19+ audiences.

For a genuine bar or nightclub experience, your son and his girlfriend would need to wait until they are 21. In the meantime, you can plan for 18+ social activities like live music, art walks, and daytime entertainment in Old Town Scottsdale to give them a similar nightlife experience without breaking the law.
