shoes to pack

Arriving soon for a brief visit.

Are suede booties appropriate for the evening?

Other option is sandals with a wedge heel, but I prefer my booties.

Only room for one choice in my bag. Thanks for any insight :)

For a brief visit to Scottsdale, Arizona, your shoe choice should balance style, comfort, and practicality. January weather in Scottsdale is generally mild in the day (highs around 60–65°F / 15–18°C) but can be cooler in the evening (lows around 40–45°F / 4–7°C). Evenings are usually dry, so suede can be worn safely if there is no rain forecast.

Considering your options:

  • Suede booties: These are stylish, versatile, and appropriate for evening dinners, casual outings, and even light walking around downtown Scottsdale or Old Town. They provide warmth for cooler nights and pair well with jeans, skirts, or dresses.
  • Sandals with a wedge heel: These are great for daytime activities or warmer evenings, but in January, nights can be too cool for sandals. They are also less protective if you plan to walk on uneven streets or do some casual exploring.

Given that you only have room for one pair:

  • Suede booties are the better choice for evening wear, comfort, and weather adaptability.
  • If you plan a lot of daytime walking in the sun and want open-toed shoes, sandals would be ideal, but evening activities in Scottsdale are usually mild enough for booties.

Additional tips:

  • Make sure your suede booties have a sturdy sole for walking on pavement and any uneven streets.
  • Consider packing light ankle socks or liners for extra warmth in the evenings if needed.

Overall, your suede booties are stylish, practical, and the safest single-choice option for a brief January visit to Scottsdale.
