1 week in Scottsdale

Hi,

We'll be 10 days in Scottsdale renting an airbnb. I have a one day in and out trip to Sedona (we've been there before so just a quick visit, hike, Tlaquepaque Village and back. Looking for ways to fill up our days - we'll be 3 adults and a teen. Def a day of shopping in order for the teen. And some EASY hikes (she's not much of a hiker but, would do something with a cool visual that isn't high up). And, any other recommendations would be great. Thx! Will be in April.

Spending 10 days in Scottsdale with a mix of adults and a teen is perfect for combining relaxation, outdoor activities, shopping, and cultural experiences. Here’s a detailed plan to help fill your days while keeping hikes easy and visually interesting.

Easy Outdoor Adventures and Scenic Spots:

  • McDowell Sonoran Preserve: Offers a variety of easy trails with stunning desert scenery. Try the Gateway Loop Trail or Brown’s Ranch for a gentle, visually rewarding hike.
  • Pinnacle Peak Park: An easy-to-moderate hike with panoramic views of Scottsdale and the surrounding desert. The trail is well-maintained and doable for someone who prefers less strenuous walks.
  • Camelback Mountain: You can skip the summit but walk the Echo Canyon lower areas for scenic views without climbing too high.
  • Desert Botanical Garden: A relaxing way to enjoy the desert flora, seasonal blooms, and easy walking paths suitable for all ages.
  • Old Town Scottsdale Art Walk: Stroll through galleries, sculptures, and public art displays. The Friday night Art Walk is particularly lively.

Day Trip to Sedona:

  • Visit Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village for a quick shopping stroll and lunch.
  • Do a short, easy hike like Bell Rock Pathway or Cathedral Rock Vista Trail for stunning red rock views without steep climbing.
  • If time allows, stop at Airport Mesa for panoramic views of Sedona.

Shopping and Teen-Friendly Activities:

  • Scottsdale Fashion Square: Large mall with popular teen stores and dining options.
  • Old Town Scottsdale Shops: Unique boutiques, souvenir stores, and casual dining.
  • Scottsdale Waterfront: Stroll along the canal, explore shops, and enjoy ice cream or casual snacks.

Other Recommendations:

  • Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West: A fun cultural experience showcasing the art, history, and culture of the American West.
  • Horseback Riding Tours: Several ranches offer gentle trail rides through the desert with beautiful views, suitable for beginners.
  • Spring Training Baseball: If your trip coincides with the season, catch a Cactus League game for a classic Arizona experience.
  • Evening Light Displays: Many neighborhoods and resorts have decorative lighting in April evenings; consider a relaxed drive or stroll.
  • Day Trips to Nearby Areas: Consider short drives to Carefree, Cave Creek, or Fountain Hills for scenic desert towns, art galleries, and casual dining.

With this mix of scenic hikes, shopping, cultural stops, and optional day trips, your group can enjoy Scottsdale at a relaxed pace, while still hitting highlights that will be enjoyable for both adults and a teen.
