Delray or Hollywood

Been to both and enjoyed but not sure where to go again. I really like delray but I enjoy the Hollywood broadwalk and being close to the beach and able to walk everywhere. Delray is walkable but bit of walk to beach. Any opinions appreciated.

Both Delray Beach and Hollywood offer unique charms, so your choice really depends on what type of experience you’re looking for. Here’s a detailed comparison to help guide your decision:

Delray Beach: Delray has a lively downtown area known as Atlantic Avenue, full of restaurants, bars, boutiques, and art galleries. It’s very walkable for dining and nightlife, but the beach is a moderate walk (10-15 minutes) from the main downtown stretch. If you don’t mind the walk or a short ride, it’s easy to access. Delray’s vibe is more upscale and artsy, with a strong sense of community and a mix of locals and visitors.

  • Pros: Vibrant downtown, arts and culture, great restaurants and nightlife, historic charm.
  • Cons: Beach is not right on the main downtown; may need to walk or drive.
  • Best for: People who enjoy exploring shops, galleries, and evening dining options while staying near but not directly on the beach.

Hollywood: Hollywood Beach has the famous Broadwalk, which is perfect for strolling, biking, and easy access to the beach. You can literally step out of your hotel or rental and be on the sand or the Broadwalk in minutes. There are casual dining spots, bars, and local shops along the Broadwalk, but nightlife and high-end dining options are not as concentrated as in Delray. The overall vibe is more relaxed and family-friendly.

  • Pros: Direct beach access, walkable Broadwalk with shops and casual eateries, ideal for beach-centric trips.
  • Cons: Less vibrant nightlife, fewer upscale dining or shopping options compared to Delray.
  • Best for: Those who want to be right on the beach, enjoy morning walks along the ocean, or have easy, casual dining steps away.

Overall, if your priority is being right on the beach with everything within walking distance and a more casual, laid-back atmosphere, Hollywood is probably the better choice. If you value a lively dining and nightlife scene and don’t mind a short walk to the beach, Delray Beach offers a more bustling, cultural experience.
