Denver and surround

Hi all,

Will be flying into Denver for 3 nights in May

Please help with advice on where to stay close to bars and restaurants.

Also after great golf courses?

I do have a car and happy to drive

Thanks

For a three-night stay in Denver with an interest in nightlife, dining, and good golf nearby, you'll want to focus on areas that offer a combination of walkable restaurants and bars, as well as reasonable access to top golf courses within a short drive.

Best neighborhoods to consider staying:

  • LoDo (Lower Downtown): This is Denver’s historic district with a lively bar scene, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s very walkable, has easy access to Union Station, and offers a mix of boutique hotels and chain options. You’ll also have quick highway access for golf trips outside the city.
  • RiNo (River North Arts District): Known for trendy breweries, art galleries, and hip restaurants. A bit more industrial, but perfect for food and craft beer lovers. Hotels are smaller but unique.
  • Cherry Creek: A more upscale neighborhood with high-end shopping, great restaurants, and some nightlife. Slightly quieter than LoDo, but still offers excellent dining options. It’s also convenient for driving to nearby golf courses.

Recommended golf courses within a short drive from Denver:

  • Cherry Hills Country Club – Historic and highly regarded, about 15–20 minutes from downtown Denver.
  • Green Valley Ranch Golf Club – Open to the public, excellent course in northeast Denver.
  • CommonGround Golf Course – A challenging public course just 15–20 minutes from downtown.
  • Arrowhead Golf Club – About 30 minutes west, stunning red rock scenery and a memorable layout.

Tips for maximizing your trip:

  • Since you have a car, staying downtown (LoDo or Cherry Creek) gives you easy access to restaurants and bars while still allowing a 20–30 minute drive to quality golf courses.
  • Book tee times in advance, especially at premium courses like Cherry Hills, as May can be busy.
  • If you prefer casual nightlife and craft beers, RiNo has a more relaxed, hip vibe than LoDo.
  • Parking in LoDo and Cherry Creek is generally available but can be paid; many hotels offer parking options.

Overall, for a balance of nightlife, dining, and golf accessibility, LoDo or Cherry Creek are your best bets. RiNo is ideal if you’re focused on food, art, and brewery experiences. With a car, getting to the golf courses from any of these areas is easy and convenient.
