Transportation/Restaurants -Orlando Airport to Red Coach Bus

We are taking our first trip to Ocala to visit my snowbird parents. Neither of us are familiar with the area. Since we don't want my parents driving that difference, we booked tickets on a Red Coach Bus roundtrip. My questions are: how far is the terminal from the airport and what is the best way to get from one to the other? We will have some time to kill between the bus and the flights, are there any restaurants within walking distance of the bus terminal or the airport? I know there are restaurants inside the airport, but looking for other options. Also, has anyone had experience with Red Coach? Thank you!

The Red Coach Bus terminal serving Orlando is located at 555 West Amelia Street, which is roughly 10–12 minutes by car from Orlando International Airport (MCO), depending on traffic. It is not within easy walking distance from the airport terminals, so ground transportation is needed.

Transportation options from Orlando Airport to Red Coach Bus Terminal:

  • Taxi or rideshare: Uber, Lyft, or a traditional taxi is the simplest and fastest way to get from the airport to the bus terminal. The ride typically takes 10–15 minutes and costs around $20–$30.
  • Airport shuttle service: There are no direct Red Coach shuttles from the airport, but some private shuttle services may be booked in advance.
  • Rental car: While feasible, using a rental car just to reach the bus terminal is generally less convenient.

Restaurants near the Red Coach Bus Terminal:

  • Within walking distance: There are limited options in the immediate area. Some fast-food and casual dining options are nearby, such as McDonald’s, Starbucks, and a few local cafés along West Amelia Street and surrounding streets.
  • Airport dining: If you have time before heading to the bus, the airport itself has a wide selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and snack bars in all terminals, which may be more comfortable and varied.

Red Coach Bus experience:

  • Many travelers report that Red Coach Buses are comfortable, clean, and reliable, with amenities like free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and reclining seats.
  • Tickets can be booked online in advance, and the staff are generally helpful with boarding and luggage handling.
  • The bus makes scheduled stops and is a convenient option for trips between Orlando and Ocala without having to drive yourself.

In summary, taking a rideshare or taxi from Orlando Airport to the Red Coach Bus terminal is the easiest way to connect. If you have time before departure, the airport itself offers more dining options, while a few casual restaurants are available near the terminal.
