Suggestions For NYE 2025 in Orlando
Hi just looking for suggestions for two adults for where to go on New Year’s Eve. Haven’t been in Orlando at this time of year for 15 years. Had a great time in Epcot then. But not sure whether Disney or Universal charge for extra tickets now for admission to their parks. Any help appreciated
Orlando is a fantastic place to celebrate New Year’s Eve, offering a variety of options ranging from big theme park celebrations to more relaxed events around the city. Since it’s been 15 years since your last NYE in Orlando, here’s a breakdown of some great options to consider for 2025, including whether Disney or Universal charge for extra tickets during the holiday period.
Theme Park Celebrations
- Epcot (Walt Disney World) - Epcot has always been known for its lively New Year’s Eve festivities, and it’s one of the best spots in Disney World for adults looking for a party atmosphere. In addition to their regular admission ticket, Disney often offers special New Year’s Eve activities and a spectacular fireworks show, which can get quite crowded. As of recent years, Disney has charged an extra fee for access to special events like "Epcot's New Year's Eve Celebration." Be prepared for larger crowds, but it’s a great spot if you want a combination of entertainment and great food.
- Universal Studios Orlando - Universal also offers a big New Year’s Eve bash, especially at Universal CityWalk. Expect live music, dancing, fireworks, and party vibes. Like Disney, Universal has been known to offer special event tickets for New Year’s Eve, with extra costs for things like reserved viewing areas or all-you-can-eat packages. If you’re looking for a more energetic, party-centric celebration, Universal might be a great fit.
Other Notable Options
- Disney Springs - If you want to stay within the Disney bubble but avoid the park crowds, Disney Springs offers a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options for New Year’s Eve. Many restaurants have special NYE menus and there are live performances throughout the night. It’s free to enter Disney Springs, but if you want to dine at a popular restaurant or enjoy a drink, reservations are highly recommended.
- ICON Park (The Wheel) - For a different perspective of the city, you can visit ICON Park, home to The Wheel. They often have special New Year’s Eve events, including live music, cocktails, and a great view of the fireworks from the wheel. This is a fun, more relaxed option if you want to celebrate with a view but without the madness of the theme parks. Admission to The Wheel can be purchased separately, and there are usually food and drink packages available.
- Orlando’s Downtown & Church Street District - If you prefer a more traditional urban celebration, the Church Street District in downtown Orlando hosts one of the biggest NYE celebrations in the city. Expect a lively nightlife scene with bars, clubs, and a big street party. There’s typically a midnight ball drop and plenty of entertainment. Admission can vary depending on the venue, and tickets may be required for certain events, so check ahead.
- Lake Eola Park - If you prefer something more low-key and family-friendly, Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando hosts a free New Year’s Eve fireworks show. While it may not be as extravagant as the theme park celebrations, it’s a nice, relaxing spot to ring in the new year with live music, food trucks, and a beautiful view of the lake.
Ticket Information
As you suspected, Disney and Universal do charge extra for special events and activities around New Year’s Eve, in addition to the regular park admission. The additional costs are generally for reserved viewing areas, dining packages, or exclusive events (such as fireworks shows). Both parks can get very crowded on New Year’s Eve, so it’s a good idea to purchase tickets early and make reservations if you plan to visit.
Whatever you decide, Orlando offers a variety of celebrations for every taste, from high-energy parties in the parks to more intimate and relaxed gatherings. Enjoy your time in Orlando, and have a fantastic New Year’s Eve celebration!
