help with accommodation in Homer and in Seward
Hello All ! This post is similar to our earlier one regarding accommodation near Denali…(which worked out well !)
This time however we seek your help in Homer and Seward…:
We - couple in their 60s - are currently working on our accommodations during our 13 day pre-cruise time in Alaska..
We are planning 2 nights -/ 1 full day in Homer and the same in Seward. We are looking for accommodation that fits our budget - preferably under 200 usd but if needed we can go a bit over 200 usd
Our preference would be a small scale, quiet accommodation in nature or small village…free standing cabin would be great…hotelrooms with this thin walls - no thank you…
Nearby restaurant(s) would be great….
Your advice is very much appreciated !
For your two-night stays in Homer and Seward, focusing on quiet, small-scale accommodations with a cabin or standalone feel is very doable, though options under $200 per night in peak summer can be limited, so booking early is key.
Homer Accommodation Suggestions:
- Homer Spit Cabins: Small, standalone cabins right on the Spit. Offers quiet surroundings, easy access to beaches and views of Kachemak Bay. Some have kitchenettes for flexibility. Proximity to restaurants and shops along the Spit.
- Ocean Breeze Cabins: A short drive from Homer town center. Private cabins with outdoor seating, surrounded by nature. Very quiet, good for couples.
- Homer Harborview B&B or similar: Cozy B&B options in Homer town or outskirts. Often provide breakfast and easy walking distance to local restaurants.
Nearby Dining in Homer:
- Salty Dawg Saloon – casual, iconic local spot.
- Two Sisters Bakery – breakfast and casual lunch.
- AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse – sit-down dinner option.
Seward Accommodation Suggestions:
- Seward Windsong Lodge: Small-scale lodge with cabins and cottages. Quiet location, surrounded by forest and close to Resurrection Bay. Within driving distance to town restaurants.
- Sea Gull Cottages or Seward Cabins: Standalone cottages with kitchenettes. Very peaceful, often tucked in nature, providing privacy and a cozy feel.
- Whalesong Lodge: Slightly upscale but with private cabin feel. Close to hiking trails and the harbor.
Nearby Dining in Seward:
- The Cookery – casual, highly rated for seafood and local fare.
- Ray’s Waterfront – classic Alaskan seafood with bay views.
- Seward Brewing Company – relaxed, local beers and pub food.
Tips:
- Book cabins or lodges early, especially for July and August, as availability under $200 is limited.
- Check if properties include parking and kitchenettes for flexibility.
- Both towns have short walking distances to main attractions, but a vehicle is useful for exploring nearby trails, beaches, and viewpoints.
These options should provide a quiet, comfortable stay with proximity to nature, good views, and easy access to dining without dealing with noisy hotel rooms or shared walls.
