From Page to Las Vegas with possible stop in Zion.

Hi, is it true that going route 9, Is complicated ? Too many turns i see in map, in some places. Got them enough from Flagstaff to Page already, don't like it.

It is better go from Page to Colorado city And and to LV after..

Driving from Page, AZ to Las Vegas, NV can be approached in a few ways depending on your comfort with winding roads and scenic routes. Route 9 through Zion National Park is a beautiful and scenic drive, but it does involve some winding roads, especially as you go through the park and descend toward the Virgin River area. If you’ve already had enough of twisty roads from Flagstaff to Page, you might find this section a bit more challenging, though it is perfectly manageable for most drivers.

Route 9 is not particularly long—about 40 miles through the park—but it includes tight curves, changes in elevation, and limited passing opportunities. Traffic can also be heavier during peak tourist seasons, adding to the driving complexity. However, the scenery is stunning, with views of cliffs, canyons, and rock formations, making it a memorable part of the journey if you are up for it.

If you prefer to avoid winding roads, an alternative is to take US-89 south from Page toward Colorado City, AZ, and then head west on AZ-389 and US-95 toward Las Vegas. This route is longer in miles but generally has straighter roads, is less curvy, and avoids the more intense switchbacks of Route 9. You also miss the direct entry into Zion, but you can still get a glimpse of the park from nearby viewpoints without driving through the park itself.

  • Option 1: Page → Route 9 → Zion National Park → US-89 → I-15 → Las Vegas (more scenic, winding, and shorter)
  • Option 2: Page → US-89 south → Colorado City → AZ-389 → US-95 → Las Vegas (longer, straighter, less curvy, safer if you dislike winding roads)

If you want to combine a visit to Zion with a smoother drive, you could consider stopping in Springdale, UT (just outside the park entrance) for a short visit or photo opportunity, then backtrack slightly to take the straighter route through Colorado City and AZ-389 to Las Vegas.

  • Option 3: Page → US-89 → stop near Zion (Springdale viewpoint or short hike) → back to US-89 → Colorado City → AZ-389 → US-95 → Las Vegas

Ultimately, if your main priority is comfort and avoiding winding roads, the route via Colorado City and AZ-389 is the safer choice. If you are willing to take on some curves for dramatic scenery, Route 9 through Zion is very rewarding.
