How best to pack for upcoming trip?
We will in Sedona week of 3/12 - trip includes vortex hikes, antelope, canyon tours, etc. Jeans, legging, sweaters, sweats, coat needed? Thanks in advance!
Visiting Sedona in mid-March means spring-like weather, which can fluctuate between cool mornings/evenings and warmer afternoons. Layering is key for comfort during outdoor activities like vortex hikes, canyon tours, and exploring Antelope Canyon.
Here’s a practical packing guide for your trip:
- Base layers: Leggings, t-shirts, long-sleeve tops—good for layering under sweaters or fleeces during cooler parts of the day.
- Mid-layers: Sweaters, hoodies, or lightweight fleece jackets to add warmth as needed. Easy to remove as it warms up.
- Outer layer: A light to medium coat or windbreaker. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, especially in higher elevations or windy canyon areas.
- Bottoms: Jeans are fine for town walks, but for hikes you might prefer leggings, hiking pants, or comfortable athletic wear that allows flexibility and breathability.
- Footwear: Sturdy walking or hiking shoes with good traction are essential for canyon and vortex hikes. Consider bringing a second pair of comfortable shoes for town or casual wear.
- Extras: Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and a small backpack for water and snacks while hiking. Layers you can easily add or remove are ideal.
Optional items depending on your comfort and activities:
- Light gloves or scarf if you get cold easily in the mornings.
- Rain shell or waterproof jacket in case of spring showers.
- Comfortable evening clothes if you plan on dining out.
Overall, think “layer, layer, layer.” Mid-March in Sedona can be pleasantly warm during the day, but early mornings and evenings can be brisk, especially on hikes or in shaded canyon areas.
Packing this way ensures you’re comfortable for all your planned activities without overpacking bulky items.
