China Eastern Ticket

Help Please

Maybe I am worrying about nothing.

Flying Shanghai to Guilin on CE and as I enrolled into their Frequent Flyer Programme it put my first name and second name on the ticket without my middle name. All 3 names on passport. Obviously correct Passport Details are on the ticket.

Is this likely to be a problem ? I have tried calling CE Office in London without success.

In general, airlines in China are quite strict about the passenger name matching exactly with the passport. However, in your case, since the ticket itself shows the correct passport details (first, middle, and last name) and the discrepancy is only in the Frequent Flyer profile, this is usually not a problem for boarding.

Key points to consider:

  • The most important factor for security and check-in is that the passport details on the ticket match your actual passport. Since they do, you should be able to board without issue.
  • The difference in the frequent flyer program name is mostly relevant for accumulating miles. Some airlines may require the FF account name to exactly match the ticket name, but China Eastern generally allows miles to be credited even if the FF profile is slightly different.
  • If you are worried, you can bring proof of enrollment in the frequent flyer program and your passport to the check-in counter. Usually, staff can link your FF account manually if needed.

Tips:

  • Check-in online with your ticket details, not the FF profile, to avoid mismatch warnings.
  • If possible, try contacting China Eastern via social media or their customer service email; sometimes London offices are harder to reach by phone.
  • Keep all travel documents handy at check-in, especially your passport and boarding pass.

In conclusion, as long as your passport details on the ticket are correct, this minor difference in the FF account should not prevent you from flying. Boarding should go smoothly.
