Supermarket near South Harbor Blvd

We are going to stay at Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites and I’m trying to work out if there is a supermarket walking distance from there?

Also, we are getting a private transfer from LAX and have a free 20 min stop at a supermarket should I just let the driver choose where we stop? We’ll be coming off a massive international flight with kids so quick snacks like fruit, yoghurt and drinks will be what I aim to by for our first supermarket shop.

The Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites is located very close to Disneyland and South Harbor Boulevard. For a convenient supermarket, you have several options within a short drive, though walking distance is limited depending on how much you want to carry with kids right after a long flight.

Walking Distance Options:

  • 7-Eleven – About a 5–10 minute walk from your hotel. It’s small but convenient for basic snacks, drinks, and some fruit. Ideal if you just need a quick pick-me-up.
  • CVS or Walgreens – Within a similar walking distance. Not a full grocery store, but you can get drinks, yogurt, packaged snacks, and some fresh fruit.

For a full supermarket experience, it’s best to drive or have your driver stop, especially since you have a private transfer and a 20-minute window. There are several nearby supermarkets that are efficient for quick shopping:

  • Vons – Located about 1 mile from South Harbor Blvd, Vons carries fresh fruit, yogurt, drinks, sandwiches, and other grocery basics. Efficient layout for a 20-minute stop.
  • Albertsons – Similar distance to Vons, good selection of ready-to-eat snacks and drinks, with easy parking for a quick in-and-out stop.
  • Target (Supermarket Section) – Slightly further but also quick to navigate. Has a small grocery section and plenty of snack/drink options.

Recommendation:

Given you’re coming off a long international flight with kids, letting your driver choose between Vons or Albertsons is a practical approach. These stores are close to the route from LAX to Anaheim, have ample parking, and you can get fresh fruit, yogurt, and drinks quickly within your 20-minute stop. Trying to walk to a supermarket right from the hotel with luggage and kids may be more stressful than helpful.

In summary, for a quick and effective first grocery stop:

  • Let the driver pick Vons or Albertsons along the way.
  • Prioritize pre-packaged snacks, drinks, and fresh fruit.
  • If you need ultra-quick options after unloading, the nearby 7-Eleven can cover immediate snack cravings.

This approach balances convenience, time, and comfort for your family on arrival.
