Things to do in Anaheim

Hello All. I have an upcoming trip to Disneyland, but am arriving the day before my first park day. Since I land in the late morning, and my hotel room will very likely not be ready by the time I get there, I’d really appreciate some tips on ways to kill time.

Note- I’ll be going to the Anaheim Packing District later in the evening, and would like to avoid going twice in one day.

If you’re arriving in Anaheim in the late morning and your hotel room isn’t ready yet, there are several ways to spend your day before heading to the Anaheim Packing District in the evening. Here’s a detailed guide to make the most of your time without feeling rushed.

Morning to Early Afternoon Activities:

  • Downtown Disney District: Even if you’re not entering the parks, the Downtown Disney area has shops, entertainment, and dining options. You can wander, grab a coffee or light lunch, and enjoy the Disney atmosphere without a park ticket.
  • Exploration of Anaheim GardenWalk: This outdoor shopping center is nearby with stores, casual dining, and sometimes live music or events. A relaxing place to stroll and stretch after your flight.
  • Visit a local park: Pearson Park or Yorba Regional Park are nearby for a quiet walk or a picnic if you want some outdoor time.
  • Check out the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center: Small but interesting exhibits that can give you a local arts and culture experience, only a few minutes from central Anaheim.

Lunch Options:

  • Downtown Disney or Anaheim GardenWalk offer a variety of casual options.
  • Local cafés around Anaheim can provide a quieter spot to relax and recharge before your evening plans.
  • If you want something light to tide you over until the Packing District dinner, consider coffee shops or bakeries near the hotels or in Downtown Anaheim.

Afternoon Flex Options:

  • Hotel Amenities: Some hotels allow access to the pool or lounge areas even before room check-in. This can be a relaxing way to spend an hour or two.
  • Nearby Mini Golf or Entertainment Centers: Places like Pirate’s Dinner Adventure (if your schedule allows) or small arcade/entertainment centers can be a fun way to pass the time.
  • Scenic Walk or Short Drive: A short drive to Huntington Beach or Newport Beach can offer a coastal stroll if you enjoy the ocean.

Since you plan to visit the Anaheim Packing District later in the evening, try to keep your afternoon light and low-stress. Focus on activities that allow you to stretch your legs and relax after the flight, without over-scheduling yourself. This way, you can enjoy dinner and the vibrant atmosphere of the Packing District without feeling rushed or fatigued.
