What times do shops close?

Our cruise ship doesn’t leave until 9 pm. I was wondering what time shops in town will be open until. I tried googling but could not find any definite answers. This will be a Wednesday in June. Thanks.

In Skagway, Alaska, the town is very much geared toward cruise ship visitors, so shop hours in June are designed to accommodate cruise passengers. Most shops along Broadway, the main tourist street, open by around 8:00–9:00 am and close in the early evening.

Specifically for a Wednesday in June:

  • Many souvenir shops, clothing boutiques, and galleries typically close between 6:00 and 7:00 pm.
  • Some larger stores or those closer to the cruise docks may stay open slightly later, until around 8:00 pm, but this is less common.
  • Restaurants and cafes may stay open longer, often until 9:00 pm or later, especially if there are cruise ships in port.

If your ship departs at 9:00 pm, you will likely have enough time to browse most shops in the early to mid-afternoon and enjoy a meal before heading back to the ship. Keep in mind that Skagway is a small town, so walking around Broadway is very manageable and you can cover most shops in a couple of hours.

It’s also a good idea to check with your cruise line or the local visitor center for any updates, as shop hours can vary slightly depending on cruise schedules and seasonal staffing.
