Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone might be able to help. We're (2x adults, 1x 12yr old) planning to visit Florida next August and would like to include a trip to Universal at the end of our holiday. Having looked a various 'first timer' guides I think we'd want either 2 or 3 days 2 parks (not fussed about the water park) and depending on price, either park to park or base tickets and with or without an Epic Universe day. I've just started to look around at ticket prices but am struggling to find sites that offer 2 or 3 days - most seem to only offer the 14/15 day tickets or those that do have 2/3 days don't seem to have availability that far ahead. I have seen deals for buy '2 days get 2 days free' but these seem only applicable to US / Canadian residents (we're from the UK). Can anyone share good places to look / any tips on finding good deals? I'd also be grateful for any insights on the queuing in August vs. getting express passes. Any pointers greatly appreciated!
Short version up front: buy your multi-day Universal tickets now (multi-day/park-to-park tickets are on sale and pricing is date-based), get Park-to-Park if you want the Hogwarts Express or same-day flexibility, and expect heavier crowds in August (Epic Universe added big demand). If you want to avoid long waits without spending a fortune on individual Express Passes, consider staying at one of the Signature hotels that include Unlimited Universal Express for guests.
Which ticket type for 2–3 days? For 2–3 days I recommend either (A) 2- or 3-day Park-to-Park tickets (gives you full flexibility to hop between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure the same day) or (B) single-park multi-day tickets if you know you’ll spend a full day in each park and won’t need to hop. Park-to-Park costs a bit more but is worth it if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express (it requires Park-to-Park access) or keep your options open. If you only plan to use one park per day and want to save a few dollars, single-park 2/3 day tickets are possible — but many guests find park-to-park the easier choice.
Do tickets / Epic Universe days exist for UK buyers and how to buy? Universal sells multi-day tickets and Epic Universe options directly and also has a UK ticket store and authorized resellers that sell UK-friendly packages (including deposit/“pay later” options). If you prefer a UK supplier (for currency, payment plans, or bundled packages), look at reputable resellers (Attraction Tickets / Orlando Attractions / official Universal UK store) — they commonly sell 2- and 3-day options and Explorer packages. Note: some “buy X get Y free” promotions are time-limited or restricted by residency (Florida/US resident promos are often excluded from international buyers), so check fine print before you buy. Buy sooner rather than later for August because Universal’s pricing is date-specific and Epic Universe has added demand.
Epic Universe — include or skip? Epic Universe opened in 2025 and is now part of the ticketing options; you can add a day at Epic Universe to a multi-day ticket or buy park-to-park access that includes it. Because Epic Universe draws guests on top of the existing two parks, it has increased overall resort demand — if you really want to see Epic Universe, add a dedicated day; otherwise prioritize your must-do rides at Studios + Islands of Adventure first.
Express Pass: do you need it in August? August is peak summer for families — expect substantial crowds and higher standby times (Epic Universe presence also pushes attendance up). Express Pass (separate paid product) can save huge amounts of time, but it’s expensive and sold in limited quantities that rise with daily demand. If your budget allows, use Express on at least one or two very busy park days — especially for headliners. An alternate strategy is to stay at one of the Universal Signature hotels that includes Unlimited Express for registered guests (Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific) — that often represents the best value if you’d otherwise buy Express passes for multiple people/days. Note that the hotel-included Express typically applies to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure (check current hotel fine print for Epic Universe or Volcano Bay exclusions).
How many days do you actually need? For a family who wants to do the big attractions without rushing: 2 full days will let you cover most headliners if you use smart touring (rope drop + Genie+/Lightning Lane/Express where appropriate). A 3-day plan gives breathing room — allows one lighter day, repeats of favorites, or a day to include Epic Universe if you choose to visit it separately. If you don’t want Volcano Bay or long water-park days, 2–3 park days focused on Studios + Islands + optional Epic day is a good balance.
