Party store in San Diego
I see that all Party City stores are closed. We re coming out to celebrate a big birthday. Where can we go to get a few “ birthday decor “ items and balloons ? I’m not finding anything like this online. thank you !
You’re right to notice — all Party City locations in San Diego have permanently closed. But don’t worry! There are still plenty of places around town to grab balloons and birthday décor at a variety of price points. Here are good local options and ideas:
Where to Buy Birthday Decor & Balloons in San Diego
- BalloonIt: A long-standing local balloon shop (since 1983) that does everything from balloon arches and columns to custom bouquets and helium fills.
- Balloon Utopia: Experts in creative balloon décor, from simple birthday arrangements to elaborate garlands and balloon installations.
- San Diego Balloon Company: Located at 7975 Raytheon Road in San Diego (92111), they do balloon deliveries, bouquet pick-ups, and custom balloon art.
- Albertsons: Many Albertsons grocery stores have a “Celebrations” section — you can pick up balloons, napkins, plates, candles, and sometimes get helium.
- Dollar Tree: This is a very common recommendation now that Party City is gone. Many Dollar Tree locations carry balloons, cheap decorations, and sometimes offer on-the-spot helium fills. Just call ahead to check availability.
Tips for Making Your Birthday Celebration Work Smoothly
- Order ahead for balloon décor: If you want something fancier (arches, garlands, custom designs), call BalloonIt or Balloon Utopia a day or two in advance.
- Check helium availability: Not every low-cost store always has helium, so call ahead, especially if you want number balloons or specific designs.
- Mix sources: You could pick up basic décor at Dollar Tree and supplement with a balloon bouquet or custom piece from a balloon shop — that gives you both affordability and polish.
Hope that helps — and happy birthday celebrating! Let me know if you want help finding a store near your hotel or your party location.
