Hi.
I’m a tad confused here. So I’m planning to come to HK from Shekou, however I can’t seem to find any information on how to get to a hotel from There. I assume there will be taxis I can get but I am quite content to jump on a metro or bus as I won’t have much luggage, but I can’t find any information on what transport connections are available once at the HK Macao port.
I don’t have a hotel in mind yet ( I’m
Not looking for suggestions by the way) and I’m not fussed about being in the main tourist spots I just need to be close to a metro ( within a 5 minute maximum walk) but once I know what line or if there is a metro attached or near the port I can figure out where I want to stay.
Many thanks in advance
When arriving in Hong Kong from Shekou via the ferry, you will arrive at the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal, which is located in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island. This terminal is well connected to various modes of transportation, including taxis, buses, and the MTR (Hong Kong's metro system).
For travelers who prefer public transport and have minimal luggage, the MTR is a convenient option:
If you prefer buses, there are several options available outside the ferry terminal:
Taxis are also readily available right outside the ferry terminal and can take you directly to your hotel. While more expensive than public transport, they are convenient if you have luggage or prefer a direct journey.
In summary, for your requirement of being within 5 minutes of a metro station, the Sheung Wan area is ideal since it is right next to the ferry terminal and on the Island Line. From there, you can easily select a hotel within a short walk of an MTR station to access the rest of Hong Kong efficiently.
Overall, your best bet is to focus on hotels near an MTR station on Hong Kong Island or Kowloon, which provides flexibility and easy access from the ferry terminal.
