How much time needed

Hello to everyone, planning our first trip to Legoland. We never been to any theme park so this is novelty. Our kids are 11 and 7. We will be doing road trip from Canada (Vancouver) to San Diego and Legoland will be our highlight. We would like to see many places on the way, hence, road trip but also would like not to skim on the theme park. Would you say that 2 full days will be decent time to explore the park? Also would it be mind blowing for kids to stay at Lego hotel? Or it's not as big of a deal as it seems? Your tips are much appreciated as need to start booking things, planning mid Aug....

Visiting LEGOLAND California for the first time can be a very exciting experience for children, especially ages 11 and 7. Planning your time carefully will help ensure you get the most out of your visit without feeling rushed.

Time needed at the park:

  • Two full days at LEGOLAND is a solid plan, especially in mid-August when the park may be busy. One day can be used to hit the major rides and attractions, and the second day allows you to revisit favorites, explore shows, and take your time in areas like LEGO Kingdoms, LEGO City, and Miniland USA.
  • With kids of your ages, breaks for meals and snacks are important. LEGOLAND has many themed dining options and shaded rest areas, so pacing yourselves over two days will make the experience more enjoyable.
  • Some attractions, like water rides and the SEA LIFE Aquarium, can be explored more thoroughly on the second day without rushing.

Staying at the LEGO Hotel:

  • For kids, staying at the LEGO Hotel can be quite special. The rooms are themed with LEGO decorations, interactive features, and kid-friendly designs, which often enhances the overall excitement and immersion.
  • Beyond the rooms, the hotel offers fun extras like early park entry, nightly entertainment, and LEGO-themed play areas. For many families, this adds an extra layer of “magic” to the visit, although it is not strictly necessary to enjoy LEGOLAND itself.
  • If your children are LEGO enthusiasts, they will likely find the hotel “mind-blowing,” while for other children, the main thrill will remain the park rides and attractions.

Additional tips:

  • Arrive early both days to maximize time before crowds build, especially for popular rides.
  • Consider purchasing a Reserve ‘N’ Ride or using the LEGO Hotel perks to minimize waiting in lines.
  • Plan your route and stops on the road trip to allow for breaks and sightseeing along the way, but ensure you’re well-rested for the theme park days.

In summary, two full days at LEGOLAND California is a very reasonable plan for first-time visitors, giving enough time to enjoy the rides, shows, and themed areas without feeling rushed. Staying at the LEGO Hotel can enhance the experience, particularly for children who love LEGO, but the park itself is the main highlight.
