Hotel options
Coming to Orlando at the end of January with my husband, 13 year old son and my in-laws.
Half the time we want to do universal and island of adventure. The other half we want to do water parks like aquatica and volcano bay. Willing to switch hotels half way through to be closer to attractions.
My family is quite happy to do the more budget friendly hotels (very comfortable in 3 stars) however, my in-laws prefer the 5 star hotel experience.
Can you recommend a couple places near the above attractions where value meets luxury? Bonus if the hotels offer packages with the attractions or get in early type offers.
Thanks so much!!
It sounds like you're planning a fun trip to Orlando with a mix of adventure and relaxation! For a family like yours, looking for a balance between budget-friendly and luxurious accommodations, here are a few hotel options that should cater to both your needs and your in-laws’ preferences. These hotels are in prime locations near Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and the water parks (Aquatica and Volcano Bay), and they offer a mix of value and luxury, as well as potential packages that could enhance your experience.
- Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando
This is a great option if you're looking for a higher-end hotel close to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. It's a 4-star resort with a Caribbean-inspired theme and offers perks like early park admission and priority seating at select restaurants. While not a full 5-star, it offers luxury amenities with a more affordable price point. The resort also has shuttle transportation to the parks and a beautiful pool area.
- Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando
If your in-laws prefer something more luxurious, Hard Rock Hotel offers a 5-star experience and is located just a short walk to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. In addition to its high-end amenities, the hotel offers “Express Pass” access to skip regular lines at the parks (a huge perk if you want to maximize your time!). It’s a great blend of value for your family while offering a luxury experience for your in-laws.
- Waldorf Astoria Orlando
For a true 5-star experience, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando is an excellent option. It’s a short drive from the theme parks and offers a luxurious atmosphere with beautiful rooms, fine dining, a world-class spa, and a top-rated golf course. They offer package deals that include park tickets, so it’s worth checking for discounts or deals on attraction packages. This could be a great spot for your in-laws to enjoy luxury while still being close to the action.
- Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Orlando
For a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that offers good value, Cabana Bay Beach Resort is a solid option. It’s a 3-star hotel with a retro 1950s/1960s theme, and it offers affordable rates without sacrificing quality. The resort offers early park access to Universal Studios, plus great amenities like an on-site bowling alley and a large pool area. This would be an excellent pick for the budget-conscious side of your group.
- The Four Seasons Resort Orlando
Another luxury option for your in-laws would be the Four Seasons Resort Orlando. This is one of the highest-rated luxury resorts in the area, offering elegant rooms, a fantastic spa, and a gorgeous pool with a lazy river. It's located within the Walt Disney World Resort and offers exclusive perks like early park access to Disney parks. It's a great place to indulge in luxury while still being a short drive to Universal and the water parks.
For both your family and your in-laws, I recommend splitting your stay between a more budget-friendly hotel near Universal and Islands of Adventure, and a luxury hotel for the second half of your trip for a more relaxing water park experience. The Waldorf Astoria or Four Seasons would be perfect for a luxurious end to your vacation. Many of these hotels also offer packages that include theme park tickets, early access, or express passes, so be sure to ask about those when booking.
Enjoy your trip to Orlando – it's a fantastic destination for families of all types!
