Denver Downtown Parking

Hi, We will be spending one night in downtown Denver in mid September. This will be our last night of a ten day trip. We would like to stay near 16th street mall/union station area. Since we are on the end of our trip, I am looking for budget lodging and parking. I have been looking online to the point of frustration; this will be our first night in Denver ever, so any suggestions on hotels, parking, and ways to get better prices would be welcome. We belong to several groups like Hilton Honors, etc, already. Please, no “that’s the way prices are in Denver.” I have already seen some lower prices but the parking to go with it is a problem. Thanks so much!!!

For a one-night stay in downtown Denver near the 16th Street Mall and Union Station, budget-friendly options with parking are a bit challenging, but there are several approaches and strategies to get reasonable rates while keeping your car safe and accessible.

Hotel Options with Parking

  • Hyatt House Denver/Downtown: Offers a central location near Union Station, sometimes has package deals that include parking. Check Hilton Honors or Hyatt promotions for discounts.
  • Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Downtown: A mid-range option near the 16th Street Mall with indoor parking. Suites can be booked through Hilton Honors for points or discounts.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites Denver-Downtown: Often has reasonable rates and offers on-site parking. Being part of Hilton Honors, you may use points or earn rewards.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown: Central location with a parking garage nearby. Check Marriott offers for last-minute deals or mobile app discounts.

Parking Considerations

  • Many downtown hotels charge daily parking fees ranging $30–$50. Look for hotels offering “park and stay” packages or discounted overnight parking.
  • Some hotels near Union Station or the 16th Street Mall have self-parking nearby garages that can be cheaper than hotel valet.
  • Public parking garages around downtown can offer hourly or daily rates. Examples include 15th & Champa Garage and Millennium Garage, often $20–$25 for overnight.

Ways to Get Better Rates

  • Check multiple platforms: Hotel websites, Hilton/Marriott/Hyatt apps, and discount travel sites can have different rates for the same night.
  • Use points or rewards from Hilton Honors or Marriott Bonvoy to offset room cost; some programs also offer free parking promotions.
  • Consider booking a slightly less central hotel with free parking and using the free 16th Street Mall shuttle or light rail to Union Station.
  • Call hotels directly and ask for “last night of trip” or AAA/military discounts; sometimes these are not reflected online.

Alternative Approach

If the goal is purely convenience and budget, staying slightly outside the immediate 16th Street Mall area, such as near Civic Center or Cherry Creek, can save on parking and still provide easy access to downtown via a short drive or public transport.

In summary, focus on hotels with package parking deals, leverage loyalty points, and consider nearby public garages if your hotel’s rate is high. Combining these approaches can help you find a budget-friendly downtown stay with parking included.
