Places to stay
I have one night in Chongqing. I would be arriving from Chengdu via train. The next day in late morning I would be departing on a domestic flight out of the airport. So far I have been considering InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City and The Conrad. As anyone stayed at these are do they have decent connections to tourist sites, airport and train station?
For a one-night stay in Chongqing with arrival by train from Chengdu and a departure the next day by plane, both the InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City and The Conrad are excellent options, offering comfort, central locations, and convenient access to transport and key attractions.
Location and Connections:
- InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City: Located in the Jiefangbei central business district, this hotel is integrated into the Raffles City complex with shopping, dining, and metro access. The hotel is within walking distance to the Jiefangbei pedestrian area, Chaotianmen riverfront, and many restaurants and cafes.
- The Conrad Chongqing: Also in the central business district, near the Jiefangbei area and connected to shopping and entertainment options. It offers easy metro access to major sites and quick connections to the main train stations.
Transport Considerations:
- Train Station: Chongqing North Railway Station and Chongqing West Railway Station are accessible by taxi or metro. From either hotel, it takes roughly 25–40 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Metro Line 6 or Line 3 can connect to main stations with 1–2 transfers.
- Airport: Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is approximately 30–45 minutes by taxi from the city center, depending on traffic. Both hotels can arrange airport transfers or you can take the metro Line 3 to the airport’s Line 10 connection.
Nearby Tourist Sites:
- Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street: Shopping, dining, and city vibe within walking distance.
- Chaotianmen Dock: Offers views of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers and is the departure point for river cruises.
- Ciqikou Ancient Town: Approximately 20–30 minutes by taxi or metro, a good option if you have a few hours.
Recommendations:
- Both hotels are well-suited for a short stay, providing luxury accommodations, convenient dining options, and central locations.
- If you prefer to minimize travel to tourist sites and have easy access to the airport, either hotel works equally well, with taxis or metro providing reliable connections.
- For maximum sightseeing efficiency, plan visits to nearby attractions like Jiefangbei and Chaotianmen the afternoon of arrival, leaving early morning for airport departure the next day.
Overall, both the InterContinental Raffles City and The Conrad provide comfort, luxury, and centrality, making them ideal for a brief stopover in Chongqing.
