I can see there are other people on this forum who is planning to travel around these dates and are worried same as me. i wish to connect others who are travelling (especially from india ) so that we can share our experiences, plans and suggestions can make changes accordingly.

Traveling to Hong Kong in the first week of October usually coincides with the tail end of the typhoon season, which officially runs from May to November. While not every October week is affected, there is a possibility of tropical storms or typhoons impacting flights, public transport, and outdoor activities.

Impact of Typhoons on Travel:

  • Flights may be delayed or canceled, particularly at Hong Kong International Airport. Airlines typically notify passengers in advance if severe weather is forecast.
  • Public transportation including MTR, buses, ferries, and trams may be suspended or limited during typhoon warnings.
  • Outdoor attractions such as Victoria Peak, The Peak Tram, waterfront promenades, and Disneyland can be affected by high winds or heavy rain.

Precautionary Measures and Tips:

  • Monitor the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) website or app for typhoon warnings and updates.
  • Consider flexible planning: have backup indoor activities like museums, shopping malls, and indoor entertainment centers in case outdoor plans are disrupted.
  • Keep in touch with airlines and ferry operators for real-time schedule updates, especially for your Macau day trip.
  • Travel insurance that covers weather-related disruptions is highly recommended.

Connecting with Other Travelers:

  • Travel forums, social media groups, or platforms like TripAdvisor can help you connect with other travelers from India or elsewhere planning trips in the same week.
  • Sharing experiences can provide insights into real-time conditions, local travel adjustments, and recommended indoor activities.
  • Consider creating a small group chat with fellow travelers to share updates on transportation, weather conditions, and tips for Disneyland or Macau visits during adverse weather.

Overall, while there is a risk of typhoon-related disruptions, careful monitoring, flexible planning, and staying connected with other travelers can help you adapt your itinerary and enjoy Hong Kong safely during your visit from October 1–8.
