Uber pick up point from the HK Macao ferry terminal.

Hi all.

So initially I was just going to stay close to the terminal, drag my case to wherever needs be within a 10 min walk, however between me underestimating the heat and humidity in Shenzhen ( so I assume the weather in HK will be very similar to Shenzhen), buying a whole load of stuff from SZ that has nor added about 5 kilos to my case and now staying in causeway bay, I need to grab an uber. Is there a designated uber pick up point ( or a good spot ) to get said uber?

Many thanks

The Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal, also known as the Shun Tak Centre, is located in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island. If you want to take an Uber from this terminal to Causeway Bay, there are a few practical points to note.

Firstly, there is no officially designated Uber pick-up point inside the terminal itself, as the terminal primarily manages taxis, private coaches, and airport shuttle services. However, Uber drivers can generally pick you up from the road outside the terminal building. The key is to choose a location that is safe, accessible, and avoids obstructing other vehicles or pedestrian flow.

Here are some recommended pick-up options:

  • Outside the main exit of the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal on Canton Road/Connaught Road West, where vehicles can pull over briefly without blocking traffic.
  • The Sheung Wan MTR Station nearby, which is a recognized landmark and easy for drivers to find. You can walk a few minutes from the ferry terminal to meet your Uber here.
  • The drop-off/pick-up area of the nearby hotels (if you are willing to walk a bit), such as the Dorsett Wanchai or the Cityview Hotel, where Uber is more accustomed to picking up passengers.

When ordering your Uber, make sure to use the “Send driver your exact location” feature in the app, and confirm with the driver that the pick-up spot is safe and legal. Drivers in Hong Kong may prefer to avoid congested areas right outside the terminal entrance, so providing a clear instruction like “pick up at the north side of the terminal near the road exit” will help.

Additional tips:

  • Check traffic conditions; Hong Kong Island can be congested, especially during peak hours.
  • Ensure your luggage is manageable, as some spots may require a short walk from the actual terminal exit.
  • If you have a lot of luggage, consider requesting an UberXL for extra space.

By choosing a convenient pick-up point outside the main terminal or nearby recognizable locations, your Uber ride to Causeway Bay should be smooth and hassle-free.
