Baiyun Mountain
Hi all, saw a travel guide commenting that it is good to enter via West Gate and then go out via South, to avoid crowd.
Just wondering what I should type into Google to find this West Gate / Exit and whether one could take a cab all the way up, or whether we would need to get off at the West Gate and then take a bus up.
Any suggested route for visit that is friendly to older parents and young toddler?
Thanks
Baiyun Mountain is a popular scenic area in Guangzhou, and planning your visit with older parents and a young child in mind is a good idea. Here’s some detailed guidance:
Finding the West Gate:
- In Chinese, the West Gate is called “白云山西门” (Baiyun Shan Xi Men). Typing this into Google Maps or a taxi app will help drivers locate it accurately.
- The South Gate is “白云山南门” (Baiyun Shan Nan Men). This can be used for exiting if you want to avoid crowd congestion.
Transport Options:
- You can take a taxi directly to the West Gate, and many taxis can drive up close to the entrance. However, to reach the upper scenic areas, you typically need to take the internal park shuttle bus or cable car, as private cars cannot access all hiking paths.
- From the West Gate, there is a park bus service that takes visitors further up the mountain. Alternatively, for a more comfortable experience with older parents and a toddler, consider taking the Baiyun Mountain cable car from the West Gate area, which provides easy access to the upper scenic points.
Suggested Route for a Family-Friendly Visit:
- Enter via West Gate (Baiyun Shan Xi Men) and take the cable car or park bus up to the main scenic areas.
- Visit key spots like Moxing Peak (the highest point) and enjoy the gardens and pavilions along the way. Many paths are paved and stroller-friendly.
- Make use of resting areas and small cafes along the route for breaks with your toddler and parents.
- Exit via South Gate (Baiyun Shan Nan Men) to avoid the busiest areas and make transportation back easier. There are taxis available near the South Gate for your return.
By following this route, you minimize walking difficulty, avoid the heaviest crowds, and make the visit enjoyable for all ages.
