The Cosmo Tower Observatory (also known as Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building Observatory or Cosmo Tower) is located in Minato-ku, Suminoe Ward, Osaka City, standing 252 meters above ground. It is an excellent spot to enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Osaka Bay. Below are the main transportation options to help you get there easily!
From the city center
Take the Osaka Metro Chuo Line from Umeda or Namba to "Cosmo Square" Station, then walk about 5-8 minutes. The ride takes about 20-25 minutes, and the fare is 280-330 yen. Alternatively, take the Chuo Line to "Trade Center-mae" Station and walk about 7 minutes.
From Kansai Airport
Take the JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service to Tennoji Station, then transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line to "Cosmo Square" Station. The entire trip takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs around 1,500 yen. Or take the limousine bus to the Minato area (check schedules), which takes about 1 hour.
From Kyoto and Kobe
From Kyoto, take the JR Special Rapid Service to Osaka Station, then transfer to the Osaka Metro Chuo Line to "Cosmo Square" Station, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. From Kobe, take the JR Special Rapid Service, about 50 minutes, with transfers required in both cases.
Practical Tips
It is recommended to use Google Maps to check real-time schedules. The Osaka Amazing Pass grants free admission to the observatory (11:00-22:00, closed on Mondays, holidays observed on the next day) and unlimited subway rides—great value! The observatory is on the 55th floor; take the transparent elevator up to enjoy magnificent views of Osaka Bay, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, and Kansai Airport. The night view is especially enchanting.
