From late February to early March 2024, during a trip to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, I visited the Wangtianshu Scenic Area. This photo shows the entrance to the Wangtianshu Scenic Area's viewing restaurant.
We enjoyed the local specialty, winnowing basket meal, at the viewing restaurant.
Our group is actually a parent-child group, with more than half of the groups being families with children.
We chose to take a boat from Bubang Wharf to enter the scenic area.
Nanla River cruise 40 yuan/person.
The cruise passed through the Nanla River and soon arrived at the Rain Forest Pier.
Entrance to the Wangtianshu Rainforest
The Xishuangbanna Wangtianshu Tropical Rainforest Theme Park is located in the core area of the Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest, one of the world's three largest tropical rainforests. It is named after the iconic plant community of the tropical rainforest, the Wangtianshu tree. Pictured is the entrance to the Wangtianshu scenic area.
Xishuangbanna Wangtianshu Tropical Rainforest National Park, located in the Mengla County National Nature Reserve in Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is the only oasis at 21 degrees north latitude and the only internationally recognized tropical rainforest in China. The picture shows a panoramic view of the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
Here, amidst the dense layers of pristine tropical rainforest, densely populates the iconic tree species of Southeast Asia's tropical rainforests—the Parashorea chinensis. The picture shows tourists taking photos at the scenic area.
This well-preserved tropical rainforest once shocked the world thanks to the discovery of botanist Cai Xitao and the witnessing of Prince Philip of the United Kingdom. The photo was taken at the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
The Wangtianshu Scenic Area is one of the three largest tropical rainforests in the world and the only one in China recognized worldwide as a "Pandora Planet"-like tropical rainforest. The photo was taken at the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
The Wangtianshu Scenic Area is the only place in China where you can experience the rainforest from all angles, from land, water, and air. It is the core of the Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest. Photo taken at the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
Here, you can get up close and personal with the five wonders of the rainforest: buttress roots, stalked lilies, parasitic epiphytes, dripping leaf tips, and old leaves in bloom. The photo shows an orchid parasitic on a Parashorea chinensis tree.
The Parashorea chinensis scenic area is named after this miraculous tree. Also known as the Sky-supporting Tree, it is a rare species in the Xishuangbanna rainforest and only grows in Xishuangbanna in China. The photo was taken at the Parashorea chinensis scenic area.
Each of the Wangtianshu trees stands 60 meters tall. Photo taken at the Wangtianshu Scenic Area.
The canopy corridor, a project funded by foreign investment, is located in the Wangtianshu area. The photo shows the entrance to the canopy corridor.
The 2.5-kilometer-long corridor is constructed using steel ropes and chains tied directly to large trees. It is paved with wooden planks and secured by ropes all around, standing over 20 meters high. (Photo taken from the treetop corridor.)
Visitors can also enjoy a bird's-eye view of the vast green sea of the nature reserve. This wonderful experience can only be experienced when you're on the Skywalk. (Photo taken from the canopy corridor.)
This 36-meter-high canopy corridor winds hundreds of meters into the air, offering panoramic views of the rainforest. It's like walking in the clouds, unlocking a rainforest experience from above! (Photo taken from the canopy corridor.) This 36-meter-high canopy walkway winds hundreds of meters into the air, offering panoramic views of the rainforest. (Photo taken from the canopy walkway)
A commemorative photo I took in the canopy corridor.
In addition, there is a 1,000-meter-long stone-paved trail in the forest, which forms a three-dimensional circular tour route with the skywalk. The photo was taken next to the stone-paved trail.

Here is a scene that many scenic spots have - a wishing tree, hung with red ropes. It is said that this wishing tree is over 80 meters tall!
