Dog daycare

We are visiting for 3 weeks in July. Thinking of bringing our dog- a small Australian Labradoodle Any recommendations for a doggie daycare on Key Largo or nearby? He’ll be a year old and loves playing with other dogs. Looking for a place he can go while we are out snorkeling. Any suggestions are appreciated.

And… I’ve been to Key Largo many times. I’m somewhat familiar with the area. Thanks again.

For a small Australian Labradoodle visiting Key Largo, there are a few dog daycare and boarding options that cater to social, playful dogs. While Key Largo is relatively small, there are reputable facilities both on the island and nearby in the Upper Keys.

Options to consider:

  • Key Largo Dog Resort & Daycare: A local favorite offering daytime playgroups for small and large dogs, as well as boarding. They focus on supervised socialization, which would be ideal for a one-year-old Labradoodle who loves playing with other dogs.
  • Island Dog Retreat: Provides daycare services along with short-term boarding. Their staff ensures dogs are grouped by size and temperament, so your pup can enjoy active playtime safely.
  • Upper Keys Pet Resort (near Tavernier or Islamorada): About 10–15 minutes south of Key Largo, this facility offers daycare and grooming services. They are experienced with energetic, social dogs and have plenty of space for play.

Tips for your visit:

  • Book in advance, especially since July is peak vacation season. Some facilities have limited spaces for small breeds.
  • Provide your dog’s vaccination records and any notes about temperament or play style; most daycares require this.
  • Consider a trial half-day session first so your dog can acclimate to the environment before a full day of daycare.

Overall, for a social, energetic dog, Key Largo and the nearby Upper Keys offer a few solid daycare options that will allow you to enjoy snorkeling or other activities worry-free, knowing your dog is having fun and staying safe.
