Holiday Autos

Anybody had any experience with this 3rd party car rental supplier, have booked an full-size car with Sat nav for 15 days from Orlando with the drop off at Norfolk, cost was £811 which I thought was decent, costs include Airport Fee, Breakdown Assistance, Unlimited Mileage, Theft Waiver, Third Part Liability Protection, Extra Insurance (this is £48 I have paid AXA insurance for costs not covered by the car hire company relating to damage or theft) and GPs……..is there anything else they could try and sting me with on arrival do you think??…Many thanks……PS when it says 4 medium cases, does this mean your usual 33kg cases, not the small 10kg ones???

Holiday Autos is a third-party car rental broker that often works with major rental companies in the US. Many travelers have used it successfully, but there are a few things to be aware of when booking through a broker versus directly with the rental company.

Based on the details you’ve provided, most of the major coverage seems included: Airport Fee, Breakdown Assistance, Unlimited Mileage, Theft Waiver, Third-Party Liability Protection, Extra Insurance via AXA, and GPS. This is quite comprehensive and should cover the usual surprises.

Potential additional charges or considerations on arrival:

  • Fuel Policy: Check if the car comes full and must be returned full. Some rental companies charge a premium for refueling if not returned as instructed.
  • Additional Driver Fee: If more than one person will drive, there is usually an extra fee unless covered in your booking.
  • Young Driver Fee: Drivers under 25 often incur additional daily charges.
  • Roadside or Toll Transponder Fees: Some cars have electronic toll transponders that may incur daily fees if used.
  • Upgrades: At the counter, you may be offered optional upgrades (bigger car, additional features), but these are optional and you can decline.
  • Damage Claims / Deposit: Even with theft and damage waiver, the rental company may place a hold on your credit card for a deposit; this is usually released after the car is returned without damage.

Regarding your luggage question: “4 medium cases” generally refers to standard checked suitcases, typically around 23–25kg each, not carry-on size. Some larger full-size cars may handle these easily, but if your cases are the heavy 33kg airline limit, check the trunk dimensions—US full-size cars can usually fit 4 medium suitcases, but packing may be tight if they are large or hard-shell.

Tips:

  • Bring a printout of your booking and insurance confirmation to avoid confusion at pickup.
  • Inspect the car carefully for pre-existing damage and report it immediately to avoid disputes.
  • Confirm fuel policy and return location hours for Norfolk to prevent extra fees.
  • Keep receipts and documentation of any additional charges applied during the rental.

Overall, with your AXA insurance and the coverage included, you should be well protected. The main things to watch for are fuel, tolls, additional drivers, and any incidental upgrades or charges offered at the desk.
