NFL American Football
I searched and couldn’t find a recent post, is there anyplace to watch morning NFL games in Hong Kong? I guess we could watch in our room on our phones but would prefer not to have to do that. Thanks
Watching NFL games live in Hong Kong can be a bit tricky due to time zone differences, as many games air very early in the morning. However, there are several ways and locations where you could enjoy the games outside of your hotel room.
Here are some options:
- Sports Bars and Pubs: Certain international sports bars in Hong Kong cater to American sports fans and occasionally show NFL games. Examples include The Globe in Wan Chai, Delaney’s in Central, and Buffalo Bills Bar in Tsim Sha Tsui. Check with the bars in advance to see if they can tune in to the NFL broadcast for your preferred game times.
- Hotel Sports Lounges: Some hotels with international clientele have sports lounges or bars that may show live American sports on request. Major hotels like the JW Marriott, InterContinental, or Hyatt Regency might accommodate early morning requests if you contact them beforehand.
- Subscription Streaming Services: NFL Game Pass, ESPN Player, or DAZN (where available) allow you to stream games live or on-demand. Even though you mentioned preferring not to use your phone, you could stream via a laptop connected to a hotel TV if HDMI ports or smart TV casting is possible.
- Expat Communities: Occasionally, expatriate groups or clubs host NFL viewing events, especially for big games like Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, or the Super Bowl. Facebook groups or Meetup events for American expats in Hong Kong are a good resource.
Because of the early morning kickoff times (often around 1–2 AM local time), not all bars advertise NFL games. Contacting venues in advance or planning for a streaming option with a larger screen might be the most reliable way to watch.
In summary, while it is possible to watch NFL games in Hong Kong outside your hotel room, it requires some advance planning. Sports bars, hotel lounges, and expat events are your best bets for an authentic viewing experience.
