240 transit landing hkg airport to shenzhen

Hi there…

We will land around 2 pm HKG time and would like to take ship directly to Shenzhen shekou port to apply for the 240 transit visa …

I believe this shekou port is listed as permitted?

We would need to exit to Macau and buy the ticket with seat reservations beforehand to show to immigration officer at Shenzhen shekou port.

Does anyone know how I can buy the tickets beforehand?

Another idea was go hkg to Shenzhen shekou port to Zhuhai and exit there to Macau but I know from Zhuhai exit to Macau we cannot use private car..

Again what would be best way to exit to Macau?

Thanks so much!

Yes, Shenzhen Shekou Port is one of the designated ports where foreigners can apply for the 144-hour or 240-hour visa-free transit when arriving from Hong Kong. Since you are planning to land at Hong Kong Airport around 2 pm, you can proceed to Shekou by ferry, which is a common route for travelers looking to utilize the transit visa.

Travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen Shekou Port:

  • Take a direct ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou. The main terminals in Hong Kong offering Shekou ferries are Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal (Sheung Wan) and China Ferry Terminal (Tsim Sha Tsui).
  • It is highly recommended to book your ferry tickets in advance, especially for reserved seating. You can book through official ferry company websites such as TurboJET, Cotai Water Jet, or other operators that serve the Shekou route.
  • Bring your ferry ticket and passport to show at Shenzhen Shekou Port when applying for the transit visa.

Exiting to Macau:

  • Once you have obtained the 240-hour visa at Shekou Port, you can continue to Zhuhai, and from there proceed to Macau. Note that private cars are not allowed to cross from Zhuhai to Macau—you must use public transport such as shuttle buses, taxis, or the Light Rail connecting to Macau border checkpoints.
  • Alternatively, you can take a ferry directly from Shekou Port to Macau, which might simplify your transit without requiring you to exit to Zhuhai first.
  • Make sure to have a valid entry permit or Macau visa if required, and check operating hours for ferries or border crossings, especially if your arrival is in the afternoon.

Tips:

  • Confirm the ferry schedule and ticket availability online a few days before your arrival.
  • Keep some buffer time for immigration processing at Hong Kong, ferry boarding, and Shekou Port procedures.
  • Carry all documents, including onward tickets or hotel reservations, as immigration officers may ask for proof of onward travel.

By following these steps, you should be able to apply for your 240-hour transit visa at Shenzhen Shekou Port and continue your journey to Macau smoothly.
