Blue Angels Practice in late February?

Hi! We will be in the area for the last 2 weeks in February and are hoping to see Blue Angels in a practice session. Schedule hasn’t been released yet. Any thoughts from locals on if that’s a possibility?

Thank you!

The Blue Angels are based at Naval Air Station Pensacola and typically start their practice sessions in the late winter or early spring in preparation for the airshow season. Historically, their practices can begin as early as late February, but the schedule can vary year to year depending on training requirements and weather conditions.

Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  • Practice times are usually mid-morning to early afternoon, but they are subject to change.
  • Sessions are often held at the NAS Pensacola airfield, and the Blue Angels sometimes perform "practice flyovers" visible from Pensacola Beach and nearby areas.
  • Schedules are typically released closer to the season, often a few weeks in advance, so it’s hard to confirm exact dates for late February until official announcements are made.
  • Weather can affect practices — strong winds or rain may cancel or postpone a session.

For locals or visitors hoping to catch a practice:

  • Keep an eye on the official Blue Angels social media accounts or NAS Pensacola website for announcements.
  • Arrive early if you’re going to a known viewing spot, like Pensacola Beach, to get a good vantage point.
  • Binoculars are helpful, especially if you are watching from a distance rather than on base.

In summary, it is possible to see a practice session in late February, but there is no guarantee until the official schedule is released. Staying flexible and monitoring official sources is your best approach.
