Closest beach no toll
We are only going to be in the area 3 days before going over to Mississippi. We will have a rental car. I know we are going to Navarre beach one day. We will be staying in pensacola and was wondering if there are any beaches close that we can drive to without the toll. We really don't want to deal with that for only a few days. Also, if you have any delicious local restaurants, we would love to know.
If you’re staying in Pensacola and want easy beach access without dealing with tolls, there are several great options along the Gulf Coast that are free or low-cost. Since you already plan to visit Navarre Beach, you can explore a few others nearby for quick beach trips during your short stay.
Closest beaches without tolls:
- Pensacola Beach: Located on Santa Rosa Island, Pensacola Beach is about a 25–30 minute drive from downtown Pensacola. You can access the beach via the Pensacola Beach Bridge (no toll) and enjoy wide white sands, picnic areas, and a boardwalk. Public parking is available, and there is usually a small fee for some city lots.
- Gulf Islands National Seashore – Fort Pickens: On the western end of Santa Rosa Island, this area offers pristine beaches, historical forts, and fewer crowds. There’s a small entrance fee for vehicles, but no toll roads are required to get there from Pensacola.
- Perdido Key State Park: Just west of Pensacola, this park features quieter beaches and walking trails. Small parking fee applies, but no tolls are needed to reach it. Great for a more relaxed beach experience.
All of these are accessible with a rental car and can easily fit into a day trip from Pensacola without the hassle of toll roads. You’ll get beautiful Gulf waters and soft white sand, similar to Navarre Beach.
Local restaurant recommendations:

- Peg Leg Pete’s: Famous for their seafood platters and relaxed waterfront vibe.
- The Fish House: Downtown Pensacola option with excellent Gulf seafood and a slightly upscale casual atmosphere.
- McGuire’s Irish Pub: Fun family-friendly pub in Pensacola with hearty meals and a lively atmosphere.
With these options, you can enjoy a mix of beach time and local flavors without worrying about tolls during your short Pensacola stay.
