Kai Tak Cruise to Aberdeen Island

I am arriving by cruise ship to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. I wish to find transportation to take me to Aberdeen Island. I believe there is a ferry available from the Cruise Terminal that I can take, and then take the bus to Aberdeen Island. Where is the ferry located near the cruise terminal? Is this the fastest way to go? Thank you!

Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is located in Kowloon East and does not have a direct public ferry route to Aberdeen Island. While Hong Kong has many ferry services, the terminal itself is primarily designed for cruise ship arrivals and departures, and there is no scheduled ferry from Kai Tak directly to Aberdeen Island.

Transportation Options to Aberdeen Island:

  • Taxi / Private Car: The fastest and most convenient way to reach Aberdeen from Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is by taxi. The journey takes approximately 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis can be found right outside the cruise terminal.
  • Public Transport (MTR + Bus): You can take a combination of MTR and bus:
    • Walk or take a shuttle from the cruise terminal to Kowloon Bay MTR Station (around 10–15 minutes by taxi or shuttle).
    • Take the Kwun Tong Line to Admiralty Station on Hong Kong Island.
    • Transfer to a bus heading to Aberdeen (for example, Citybus routes 70 or 171).
    • This option can take 60–90 minutes and requires multiple transfers, so it is slower than a direct taxi.
  • Ferry Options: There are no direct public ferries from Kai Tak Cruise Terminal to Aberdeen. You could theoretically take a ferry from nearby piers like Tsim Sha Tsui or Central to Aberdeen, but this would require additional taxi or MTR travel to the ferry pier, making it slower than a taxi directly from the terminal.

Recommendation:

For speed and convenience, taking a taxi or private car directly from Kai Tak Cruise Terminal to Aberdeen Island is the best option, especially if you are arriving with luggage and want to minimize travel time. Public transport is possible but will be significantly slower due to multiple transfers.
