Lower Anteloupe tour this Thursday

Hi

We are planning to book the tour for this Thursday but noticed it may rain. Are tours usually cancelled? Is it worth going on a cloudy day with possible rain the later pm?

Thanks in advance!

Lower Antelope Canyon tours are typically not cancelled due to light rain. The canyon itself provides shelter from most weather, so even if it’s raining outside, the tour inside the canyon can still proceed safely. However, heavy rain or flash flood warnings may result in cancellations for safety reasons, as the area is prone to sudden flooding.

Visiting on a cloudy day can actually be beneficial for photography. Cloud cover softens the light and reduces harsh shadows, which can make photographing the canyon’s sandstone formations easier. Late afternoon or cloudy conditions may also mean fewer crowds, giving you a more relaxed experience.

Here are a few considerations for your tour on a potentially rainy day:

  • Check the local weather forecast and the tour company’s cancellation policy before heading out.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear; the canyon floor can get muddy or slippery after rain.
  • Bring a waterproof cover or case for cameras and phones, as humidity and light drizzle may occur inside the canyon.
  • If heavy rain or flash flood warnings are issued, the tour company may reschedule or cancel for safety.

Overall, it is generally worth going on a cloudy day, as long as there are no safety warnings. The canyon’s colors are still vibrant, and the softer lighting can enhance your photos.
