Everline vs Ritz - Summer

Hello - We are debating between the Everline Resort and Ritz for a few days this summer. First timers to Tahoe. And we are spending the second half of our trip in South Lake Tahoe. It'll be two adults, two elementary aged kids, and two grandparents. My husband and father will probably golf 1-2 of the days. So the ability to book tees times but also have options/entertainment/activities close to the resort are a priority.

So with that, any recommendations on whether we should stay at the Ritz vs. Everline?

For a first-time visit to Lake Tahoe with your family, both the Everline Resort and the Ritz have strong offerings, but they cater to slightly different experiences. Since you have two elementary-aged kids, two grandparents, and golfers in the group, you’ll want to balance family-friendly activities with access to golf and other resort amenities.

Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:

  • Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe: This is a luxury resort located in North Lake Tahoe, known for upscale accommodations, excellent service, and a full range of amenities. It has a top-notch spa, fine dining options, and concierge services that can assist with tee times at nearby golf courses. There are also seasonal activities for kids such as hiking programs, pool and splash areas, and easy access to mountain trails.
  • Everline Resort: Assuming you are referring to a family-oriented resort in the Lake Tahoe area, Everline typically offers condo-style units or suites with kitchens, which can be convenient for multi-generational stays. It may be slightly less formal and more flexible for families with kids, and having kitchens allows you to prepare meals or snacks for the kids and grandparents. Golf booking options may be more limited compared to the Ritz, but you should still have access to local courses.

Considerations for your family:

  • If the priority is luxury, concierge services, and on-site activities for both adults and kids, Ritz-Carlton is the stronger choice.
  • If you prefer more space, flexible dining, and a home-like environment, Everline may be better, especially for longer stays where cooking or separate bedrooms are useful.
  • Proximity to activities: The Ritz is closer to ski lifts and mountain activities (summer gondola rides, hiking, and pool), while Everline may require short drives for certain attractions.
  • Golf: The Ritz concierge can help book tee times at premium nearby courses, whereas Everline guests may need to book independently.

Overall, for a mixed-generation family with a couple of golfers, the Ritz-Carlton provides a more all-inclusive and convenient experience, especially if you value on-site services and activities. Everline is better if your priority is larger accommodations and a home-style setting for family comfort.
