Free HKIA Airport shuttle bus

Hi,

I have not been to Hong Kong for almost 10 years and will be going there soon. Just checking if free K5 shuttle bus to Royal Plaza Hotel (Mong Kok) is still available? Or has the service been ceased? Was also wondeting what would be the next alternative if we do not want to take a taxi? Thank you!

As of 2025, the free K5 shuttle bus service from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to Royal Plaza Hotel in Mong Kok has been permanently discontinued since June 2020. This service was previously available exclusively to Airport Express passengers holding valid tickets or boarding passes. However, the cessation of this service means that travelers must now consider alternative transportation options to reach the hotel.

For those seeking alternatives to taxis, several options are available:

  • Airport Express Train to Kowloon Station: The Airport Express train offers a quick and efficient route to Kowloon Station. From there, passengers can transfer to other modes of transport to reach their destination.
  • Public Buses: Various public bus routes operate between HKIA and different parts of Hong Kong. Passengers can check the Hong Kong Airport website for the most current information on routes and schedules.
  • Hotel Shuttle Services: Some hotels offer their own shuttle services to and from the airport. It's advisable to contact the Royal Plaza Hotel directly to inquire about any available shuttle options.

It's important to plan ahead and consider these alternatives to ensure a smooth journey to your accommodation.
