Rv park outside Yosemite from San Fransisco

We are going to Yesemeni travelling from San Fransisco. We want to stay on an RV park as near as possible to the park but outside the park thanks

Traveling from San Francisco to Yosemite by RV and looking to stay just outside the park is a great way to enjoy the area while avoiding the limited and often fully booked campgrounds inside the park. Staying nearby gives you early access to Yosemite Valley while allowing the convenience of RV facilities.

Here are some recommended RV parks close to Yosemite National Park but outside the park boundaries:

  • Groveland Yosemite Gateway RV Park: Located about 30 minutes west of Yosemite’s Big Oak Flat entrance, this RV park offers full hookups, Wi-Fi, and easy access to local restaurants and grocery stores. It’s a good base for entering the park early in the morning.
  • Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging: About 20 minutes south of the Arch Rock entrance near Groveland, this resort has full hookups, a small general store, and a swimming pool. It’s family-friendly and convenient for exploring Yosemite’s western entrances.
  • High Sierra RV & Mobile Park: Situated in Oakhurst, approximately 15 minutes from the South Entrance of Yosemite. Offers full RV services and close proximity to Mariposa and other small towns for supplies.
  • Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite: Located near the Big Oak Flat entrance, this is a hybrid option with RV sites plus cabins. It provides a more resort-like experience while still being close to Yosemite’s west entrance.

Additional tips for RV travelers:

  • Book well in advance, especially for summer months, as these parks fill quickly.
  • Check height and length restrictions at each park, as some RV sites may have limits.
  • Arrive early to the park each day if you want to avoid crowds and secure parking at popular viewpoints.
  • Consider timing your trip to explore different entrances; west (Big Oak Flat), south (Oakhurst), and Arch Rock (Hwy 140) are all convenient from these RV parks.

Overall, Groveland and Oakhurst area RV parks provide the best balance of convenience, services, and proximity to Yosemite while staying outside the park’s often congested campgrounds.
