Outdoor Photo Shoot in Winter? / "Great Qin" Live Show

Hi

I have 2 questions on the above please.

1. We are thinking of doing a "warring style" photo shoot on the ancient city walls in late nov. Is this considered winter and will it be too cold for a winter shoot?

Also I seem to see the packages only based on per pax. Prices start from rm 799 onwards. We're 2 adults and 2 boys (9 & 15). Not sure if its worthwhile to pay this x 4. Do you know of any with family packages that does war style shoot on the walls?

2. Does "The Great Qin" performance run into late nov? I don't seem to be able to find tickets on klook or trip.com for those dates. Otherwise is there another recommendation for similar shows on terracotta or war history?

Thank you.

1. Outdoor "warring style" photo shoot on Xi'an City Walls in late November:

Late November is considered late autumn to early winter in Xi'an. Average daytime temperatures are usually around 8–15°C (46–59°F), while mornings and evenings can drop close to freezing. It can feel quite cold, especially if standing still for photos, so dressing in layers and using thermal undergarments is recommended. Winds on the city walls can make it feel chillier than the actual temperature.

Regarding pricing and family packages:

  • Most photo shoot providers quote prices per person, starting from around RM 799 (~USD 180–200) per person. This means for 4 people it could become quite expensive.
  • Family packages for war-style shoots on Xi’an City Walls are limited. Some local studios may offer small discounts if you contact them directly rather than booking through Trip.com or Klook, but generally the standard per-person rate applies.
  • If budget is a concern, you might consider booking for 2 adults only and having the boys included in standard photos with your own camera, or explore other photo studios in Xi’an that offer customized family packages.

2. "The Great Qin" performance in late November:

  • The show typically runs seasonally, often ending around October or early November. Availability in late November may be limited, which explains why tickets on Klook or Trip.com are not showing.
  • Alternative options:
    • “Legend of the Terracotta Warriors” show: Held near the Terracotta Army site, it focuses on Qin Dynasty history with music, choreography, and war reenactments.
    • Day tours combining Terracotta Army and themed performances: Some local tour operators offer private or small-group experiences that include interactive war-style demonstrations or cultural performances.
    • Xi’an City Wall Night Show: Some evening performances on or near the city walls include light shows and historical reenactments, providing a similar ambiance to “The Great Qin”.

In summary, a late November city wall shoot is feasible with warm clothing, but family packages are rare, so budget for per-person pricing. “The Great Qin” may not be running, but similar shows at the Terracotta Army or city walls offer alternative cultural experiences.
