Los Angeles Hotel
Visiting California with my 16-year-old daughter next March for Spring Break. She is a competitive dancer and wants to take a couple of classes in LA. We also want to see the Walk of Fame and do some window shopping in Beverly Hills. Where is a good place to stay for one night? We will be heading to Disneyland on day 2!
For a one-night stay in Los Angeles with a focus on both sightseeing and your daughter’s dance classes, you’ll want a hotel that is centrally located to Hollywood and Beverly Hills, while still allowing for an easy drive to Disneyland the next morning. Traffic in LA can be heavy, so proximity is key for a short visit.
Here are some recommended areas and hotel options:
- Hollywood / Hollywood Boulevard: Staying near the Walk of Fame is convenient for sightseeing. You can walk to TCL Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, and many of the famous Hollywood landmarks. Hotels here tend to be mid-range and some have parking. Examples include Loews Hollywood Hotel and The Hollywood Roosevelt.
- Beverly Hills / West Hollywood: Ideal if you want to combine window shopping with a central location. West Hollywood also has a vibrant, safe area with boutique shops and restaurants. Good options include The Kimpton La Peer Hotel or The Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills. This area is also fairly convenient for dance studios if your daughter has a class nearby.
- Near a dance studio: If you already know which studio your daughter will attend, consider a hotel nearby to reduce driving stress. Many studios in Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Downtown LA have short-term parking or guest arrangements.
Other considerations for your stay:
- Look for hotels that offer early check-out or breakfast to facilitate your early drive to Disneyland.
- Parking: Many LA hotels charge for parking. Consider this in your budget and check for valet vs self-parking options.
- Safety and comfort: Even for a short stay, choosing a hotel in a well-trafficked, safe area will make walking around Hollywood or Beverly Hills more pleasant.
- Proximity to restaurants: Choose a hotel within walking distance to casual dining options or a café for quick meals between sightseeing and classes.
In summary, a hotel in Hollywood or Beverly Hills offers the best balance of sightseeing and access to dance studios, while allowing a reasonable early morning drive to Disneyland for day 2. If the priority is sightseeing, Hollywood is most convenient; if shopping and a slightly quieter vibe is preferred, Beverly Hills/West Hollywood is ideal.
