🙏 The Sri Wasunthara Temple, or the Shrine of the Goddess of Earth, Bangkok, is a sacred place that has been with Sanam Luang. It was built during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).
This small shrine is located on the corner of Ratchadamnoen Nai Road.
At this shrine, people come to pay their respects to the Goddess of Earth all day long.
The statue of the Goddess of Earth is very beautiful. She is seen squeezing her hair, and water flows out from the tips of her hair, which can be drunk or eaten.

The Goddess of Earth is the Mother of the World, the Goddess of the Earth, or the protector of the land. Her artistic depiction of the Goddess of Earth is that of a large yet graceful female deity with an oval face and a gentle smile, symbolizing her calmness and composure. The history of the Goddess of Earth is told in Buddhist history. It is said that during the Buddha's striving for enlightenment, he encountered the Mara kings. The Mara kings devised various schemes to incite the Buddha's desires and lusts, but the Buddha was neither pleased nor displeased. At that time, Mother Earth performed a miracle to subdue the demons by squeezing her hair, causing water to flow out and flood them, defeating them. This is the origin of the image of "Mother Earth Squeezing Her Hair" or "Uthokthan" posture, which means giving alms of water or giving water as a Dharma offering.

Beliefs surrounding worshipping Mother Earth suggest that she can help produce fruit and produce. In the past, before planting, offerings were made to Mother Earth, believing that she would bestow fertility, promote crop growth, and ensure the stability and strength of the house. In the past, every time a house was built, a prayer to Mother Earth was made to ask for forgiveness and to drive piles into the ground for the successful construction of the house, as well as to protect and ensure safety. Mother Earth is believed to be the goddess of fertility, so paying homage to her brings peace and happiness.

Offerings to Mother Earth:
Lotus flowers, incense, candles, robes, five types of fruit (preferably young coconuts and bananas), betel nuts, cigarettes, water, milk, red sago syrup, rice, boiled eggs, puffed rice, seven types of desserts, three small pieces of silk, and yellow or orange flowers. When the offerings are complete, place them on a white cloth. Then, light 21 incense sticks and nine candles, and chant a prayer to Mother Earth.

May the merit I have accumulated in Mother Earth's hair, which has carried me across lifetimes, become a source of merit, virtue, and good fortune, strengthening my body, mind, and intellect, enabling me to undertake all activities from now onward in a righteous and righteous manner, without humility. May the merit accumulated in Mother Earth's hair be a source of merit and virtue. May this merit and good deeds be fulfilled from now on and forevermore.
