The three-day trip to New Zealand was short, but it was a trip that allowed me to fully experience the charm of the South Island.

✨My working holiday is over, and I'm back in New Zealand with my work visa.
What I miss most is the South Island's magnificent mountain and lake views!
I'd like to share a favorite, accessible trail: the Queenstown Hill Walking Track.
📍The trailhead is right next to downtown Queenstown. The round trip takes about 2-3 hours. The route is mostly gently sloping forest trails, with the last section getting a bit steeper, but it's manageable if you walk slowly.
🚶♂️The trail passes through native forest, which is cool and shady. There are also some adorable elf huts along the way?! (Anyone know what they are?) Once you reach the summit, the view opens up completely, offering a 360-degree view of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu, and the surrounding mountains. The entire scenery is breathtaking, and I can't help but snap a bunch of photos. No wonder this trail is also called the "Time Walk," as it transports you through different landscapes and states of mind.
💡Tips:
- Wear sneakers or hiking boots, and bring a bottle of water.
- In cool autumn and winter weather, it's recommended to hike in the morning after sunrise. Bringing a simple meal and a picnic on the summit while enjoying the beautiful scenery in the sun is also a great idea. (Just remember to take your trash down the mountain!)
- If time is limited, this trail is perfect for a half-day walk. It provides both exercise and breathtaking views.
When visiting Queenstown, make sure to spend some time at Queenstown Hill; it's the perfect starting point for your love of the South Island's natural beauty. 🌿✨
