Chinese Visa Status

Hi my visa status has gone from in review to pending collection (I have left a pre paid envelope for passport return)

My question is would that status of pending collection indicate successful granting of the visa?

Thank you

When your Chinese visa status changes from “In Review” to “Pending Collection,” it generally indicates that the visa application has been processed and a decision has been made. In most cases, “Pending Collection” means that the visa has been approved and is ready to be returned to you or picked up, depending on the method you chose for passport delivery.

Since you left a prepaid envelope for passport return, the “Pending Collection” status usually means that the embassy or consulate will place your passport with the approved visa inside the envelope and send it back to you. However, it does not absolutely guarantee approval until you physically receive your passport with the visa affixed.

Key points to keep in mind:

  • The visa is very likely granted if the status is “Pending Collection,” but the final confirmation is only when you receive your passport.
  • If there were any issues or rejection, the status would often indicate “Rejected” or “Cancelled,” or you might be contacted by the visa office.
  • Track your prepaid envelope if a tracking number is available to know when it is delivered.

In summary, “Pending Collection” is a positive sign and usually reflects successful granting of the visa, but you should wait to physically receive your passport for full confirmation.
