Transport universal and MCO and universal and animal kingdom

Hello

I am a solo traveller, staying at a hotel very close to Universal.

I need to get to and from airport . I cannot use universal shuttle because my hotel doesn’t qualify.

I also need to get from my hotel to animal kingdom and back.

Are there any shuttles?

Are taxi’s alot more expensive than uber/lyft?

Thanks

For solo travelers staying near Universal Orlando who need transportation both to/from the airport and to other parks like Animal Kingdom, you have several options to consider:

Airport transfers:

  • Uber/Lyft: The most convenient and typically the most cost-effective option. From MCO (Orlando International Airport) to Universal-area hotels, you can expect a ride to cost roughly $30-$45, depending on time of day and demand.
  • Taxi: Usually more expensive than rideshares, with fares from MCO to Universal-area hotels averaging $50-$65. Taxis also have flat airport fees and tipping is expected.
  • Private airport shuttles: Companies like Mears Connect or SuperShuttle offer shared or private shuttle services. Shared shuttles can be cheaper than taxis but may take longer due to multiple stops.

Transportation from Universal-area hotels to Animal Kingdom:

  • Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Again, generally the fastest and most convenient. Depending on traffic, a one-way ride could cost $20-$30. Uber Pool or Lyft Shared may be slightly cheaper if available.
  • Taxi: More expensive than rideshares, typically around $35-$45 one-way, plus tip. Less convenient if you’re looking to book on-demand.
  • Car rental: Renting a car for your stay gives maximum flexibility, particularly if you want to visit multiple parks or other attractions beyond Disney and Universal. Parking at Animal Kingdom is around $30 per day.
  • Shuttle services: If your hotel doesn’t qualify for Universal’s official shuttles, some nearby hotels may contract with third-party shuttle services to Disney parks. Availability is limited, so check with your hotel directly.

Tips:

  • Rideshare apps are generally faster and cheaper than taxis, especially for solo travelers.
  • Booking a car for a few days could make visiting multiple parks and other attractions more flexible, particularly if you want to avoid multiple Uber/Lyft fares.
  • Plan for peak traffic times in the mornings and late afternoons around Disney, which can affect travel time significantly.

Overall, for convenience and cost, Uber or Lyft is typically your best option for both airport transfers and trips to Animal Kingdom, unless you prefer the flexibility of a rental car.
